at least among my Seattle area in-laws, the talk was that Geno gets you to 9-8 and a first round playoff loss. They felt they were in purgatory-nice.

i get that -- many feel the same way about Kyler.

but like here -- curious about the Seahawks next move. They just telegraphed to Minnesota they will have competition. Based on offensive roster, I think Minn is the better choice for Darnold assuming the $ are close. Both teams have approx the same amount of cap space.

if not Darnold, what is plan B? Cousins? Rogers? A draft pick?

Check the Mics podcast had an interesting dilemma discussion for Darnold. Does he go for the best situation and stay in Minnesota? Or take more money from another team?

ive seen tweets (xweets?) from 2nd tier NFL sources that say the Vikes had decided to go in another direction (Daniel Jones!) rather than Darnold, which opened things up for Seattle

how Seattle knew that without tampering prior to legal tampering..... (LOL)

Geno is a turnover machine with good weapons and decent line.

I love how you guys back peddle on dudes that were supposedly so much better than K1.

Geno
Darnold
Herbert

Then when they are exposed it’s back to hating on K1 without even an acknowledgment of how wrong you are.

K1 might be a gagger but the above dudes are no better and most are worse.
.
Seattle’s OL is bad but Geno stands tough in the pocket and throws darts with pressure in his face. He’s top-5 in completion % over expectation and explosive pass rate. Seattle is much worse now.

You don’t watch much football if you think that’s true. Seattle had a terrible line, one WR and no running game.

Obviously to upgrade the position not to "rebuild".
It is obviously either to rebuild or upgrade. Time will tell who the QB is, and if they do upgrade.

Most teams don't jettison their starting QB, their best WR, and another WR who has proven to be uber consistent in the same offseason if they are not rebuilding.

Again, we will see.

Two points

Geno has only been a starter for 5 years and has plenty of tread left. Geno has 83 starts, Kyler has 82.

Carol resurrected his career and is about to give him a giant extension in LV, so they look at him as their QB of the future.
Uhhh, as a QB, "tread" doesn't count like it may for a RB. Simple enough, with age, arm strength starts to suffer. No matter how you slice it, regardless of starts or not, Kyler has way more tread left as a passer than Geno.

Now, Kyler's elite rushing might fall off in a couple of years here, which is going to be a huge issue. He's not a good enough passer to make up for that.

Wait, do you actually think Herbert isn't miles better than K1? I would make that swap in the blink of an eye AND give up assets.

I don't know that Geno and Darnold are much better than Kyler, but the fact we're even having the discussion is depressing.

I am just so stoked that we got Geno out of the division, he is such an underrated QB. The Seahawks made a fantastic OC hire, but I don't think they will be able to fix their OL in one off season. Bet the over on our sack total if they sign Darnold.

We really need Seattle to faulter after their decision to get rid of Pete Carrol, and I think it's coming, especially if they lose DK as well.

They are deciding they are tired of being "good" without playoff success, so they're blowing things up. That has significant risk. If their next QB doesnt work out they could be in the basement for a long time.

When Wilson left many were writing their obituary….Many laughed when they got Geno….Through it all the other three teams in our division stay competitive and aren’t down for long….

Geno has remained healthy as a starter. Those items you mentioned fade much later now. Manning lost his because of his neck injury. Brady never had an overly strong arm and lost it at 44 years old and Geno is in much better shape

He's never had a major injury and he has been sack at pretty much the same rate as Kyler! Kyler has missed multiple in 3 of his 6 seasons. Geno can play at his current level for 4-5 more years. It's also telling that Pete wanted Geno and is about to extend him. But what does the SB winning coach know?

Here is about fun stat! Since the Jets drafted Geno, they've only had two non-losing season and Geno was QB for one with Fitzmagic being the other.

I'll say it again, Geno's trade is Kylers trade market.

While I agree they are in the same tier of QBs (8-15-ish), Kyler has shown a higher ceiling and he is younger. Huge difference in trade market value

Geno is better than Kyler. He's just older. There isn't the world of difference between them, but yes, Geno is better. Where is the backpeddlin?

Kyler doesn't historically get you to winning-season purgatory. He is sub-winning-season purgatory. His is in losing season purgatory.
