Whoa.

Interesting.

What is the net turnover for Denver in the deal?

they were saying maybe McFries could hold up the deal, or doesnt want to be part of the trade.

who knows. i think it'd be a wash for the nuggets. they'd lose a lot of offensive firepower, especially with coachKarl's system. billups and Dice are defensive oriented, vs the offensive for the Karl's schemes.

Good for Billups to go back home.

Bizarre f'n trade.

Edit: It's just like the Suns trading for Shaq but instead of a defensive big it's a defensive small. So weird.

It sounds like a good deal for Nugs. They finallly have a balanced roster and Melo could now score at will.

:dcr:

I meant what did Denver give up initially to get AI, and what do they have now.

I just ran trade checker and the trade is kind of weird for Denver. Seems more like addition by subtraction.

Iverson 1 x $20.8M

Billups x 4 $11M, $12M, $13M, $14M (team)
McDyess x 2 $6.8M, $6.8M
Samb x 1 $711k

What I meant, was they traded Andre Miller, Joe Smith and 2 1st round picks

for Billups, McDyess, and Samb.

Lateral move or less overall IMO.

You brought up the salary side of it, and it looks even worse for them IMO.

Agreed all the way around. I think they tried something and it failed horribly. They are basically back to where to started, but man, when I make a deal like that I'd hope to get a bigger player for a $20M expiring contract.

Or picks. I don't understand why anyone gives up a 20M expiring contract. The FA that you could attract is probably bigger than the one you trade for.

Well, I sort of agree, but the guy you get from the trade is guaranteed as FA is usually pie in the sky.

The nuggests are missing a true PG, they get billups and give up a undersized '2', AI, who needs the ball alot. Now, melo will get more touches and the ball will move better.

McDyess is needed up front to back up nene. The nugz became small when they unloaded camby. the west has plenty of bogs and I expect the nugs are getting beat up.

Denver made a huge mistake with acquiring AI two years ago - they gave up a lot for him and even lost Camby because of the financial consecquenses of that trade.

Finally their FO has waken up and started making changes, I wouldnt be surprised to see a few more trades.

Wow, I'm surprised Detroit made that trade. I guess this is a salary dump...

They've already got an All-Star quality 2 in Hamilton and Iverson has shown that he isn't suitable for PG. More moves coming for Detroit as well?

Disagree. Even with this lineup, the Nuggets are a borderline playoff team. Which makes them no better than they were to start the year.

If you trade Iverson, it should have been for more expiring contracts and picks.

The Nuggets need to rebuild. You do that with cap space and drafting. Portland has done it the right way.

Billups > AI. Having said that, I think the Pistons are banking that they have enough defense and nobody to take clutch shots or go on shooting streaks. That's why I think they got AI.

In this case, even though IMO Billups is a better all around player, the trade makes sense to me from the Pistons stand point. I feel bad for Billups. I don't think they have enough there to do anything in the playoffs.

In a van...down by the river.
This trade also opens the door for Detroit's Jason Maxiell to likely slide in to the starting PF spot and recieve a larger role i would think. I know the coaching staff really likes his game.

Is Chieke Samp a real person or someone they just made up?

Samb got the Lakers Trevor Ariza.

We drafted him, traded his rights for Mo Evans, who we packaged with Brian Cook for Ariza.

I heart Samb for that alone.

So does this mean Detroit will be another team with a load of free cash come Lebron James availability time?
