... the $$ at an athletes disposal along with monies awarded to the bodies prosecuting such, is why I pay little to no merit to such BS reports/stories.

Where is the game at ********??

Hopefully no one in that pretty photo of yours ever gets assaulted by an athlete, entertainer, etc...... Would hate for you to tell them their story has no merit, that could get awkward

Because if the past month has taught us anything it's that being visible with a ton of cash completely makes someone incapable of assault and can't possibly enable such figures

BTW the original term of suspension was 6 games but he agreed to 3 games if he did not appeal the 6. Ain't that sweet? NFL cuts deals. Factor in that he and his witness buddy lied and that goes unpunished. The buddy claimed Winston was in the back seat and buddy was in the front seat. Uber knows Winston was the only passenger.

I still give the same caveat, I have no idea what really happened. But if Darby is telling the truth, why didn't the 3rd person come forward? Darby said it was him, Winston, and another friend, why hasn't the friend come forward?

Also since this is Uber and technology is a major player in this whole case, can't they use cell phones to determine if Darby is telling the truth, or at least try to? can't they figure out from cell towers where Darby's phone was at the time he said he was in the car with Winston? Or is that stuff only in movies and fictional books?

I know they said there was no video but depending no where the Uber driver picked Winston up, it's entirely possible some security camera caught him entering the car too.

Friend says Jameis Winston was alone with Uber driver
A friend of Jameis Winston's who was with him the night the Buccaneers quarterback allegedly sexually abused an Uber driver says Winston left a party scene alone in the Uber car. That statement contradicts a third friend who has said publicly that Winston was never left alone with the driver.

Winston, former Vanderbilt football player Brandon Banks and Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby were at a Scottsdale, Arizona, nightclub in March 2016 when Winston became intoxicated and "unruly," prompting his friends to send him away in an Uber, Banks' attorney, Mark Scruggs, told Outside the Lines. "What happened after that," Scruggs said, "they cannot say." Banks has never been identified publicly as being at the scene until now.

On Thursday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the NFL was planning to suspend Winston for the first three games of the 2018 season for violating the league's personal conduct policy in relation to the allegation. The NFL had no comment Friday.

The other friend, Brandon Banks, is serving 15 years for gang rape. Darby was with Winston during the alleged rape at Florida State. Read Ronin's article above.

Right but they can ask the friend and in fact they now have and he's denying he was in the car. He said the 3 of them were in an Uber EARLIER that day, but the one in question, was just Jameis Winston. Outside the Line got an interview with Banks' lawyer and he categorically denies Banks was in the car during the alleged incident, he's completely contradicting the statements from Winston and Darby.

Apparently the NFL attempted to interview Banks earlier but wasn't able to for whatever reason.

Edit that's the same story I saw, the one Ronin quoted. So they have already got a contradictory statement to what Darby is saying. The NFL was NOT aware of Banks' statements when they ruled, it will be interesting if they go back to a longer suspension or if the current one was based on the assumption Winston was lying about not being alone in the Uber.

Won't the NFL actually be more harsh if they find out Winston lied to them? I mean, they take that more seriously than whatever infraction is at hand, don't they?

I would think so yes but I don't really know their policy. And to be fair, right now we have just a contradictory statement from Banks, we don't know if he's telling the truth, or Winston and Darby are. I still am amazed in this day and time there's not video somewhere of them getting into the car so we can know for sure.

It’s not ok- I’m sure of that, not only his history but that eating the w crap last year made my stomach turn. I was a fan before that sick video- so many good dudes in the NFL - vast majority are Class people with earned honor and privilege- stunk up by association - while rare few are destroying the shield on purpose in the name of protest. folks I know don’t act like jerks in gunless cities, we have more respect for ourselves and our community.

as a disabled veteran, I don’t mind the kneeling protest - rather have their truth, than fake patriotism. Most think football is like war, using combat terms and acting like its life and death important - I am really happy they don’t truely understand - that is the soldiers burden - so society don’t ever truely have to understand WAR! Hell most can’t stomach killing, cleaning, curing and cooking their own food - think eggs come from a Safeway grocery store.

I don’t want them to be righteous- just humble or no better or worse than a right man. Many players and people are, but that isn’t interesting enough to publicize- I honor these good players - quiet and humble - faith filled and hard working - hope they never have to dig a fox hole with a grenade sump - work as teammates with interlocking fire in a defensive position, fire and maneuver in an offensive wedge formation - not for their selves or their team mates - but so an enemy that trains, gameplans and executes missions to kill and mutilate our babies and rape choices many take for granted from our eternal souls.

Eat that W - hot shot

There probably is video but maybe Uber does not want to alienate the NFLPA/NFL/Fans. I am willing to believe that Uber and Winston will throw $$$$ at the victim to go away.

I don't think Uber would have the video but there are so many security cameras out there nowadays you just almost expect some business had a camera that caught it.

Without going full blown conspiracy theory and talk about technology every driver is using an Android/I phone late model version to run the Google based driving app.

Doesn't seem to be, but you hit on a good point in one of your pervious posts about their cell phones. I heard someone talking about it on TV and they just said technology says Darby was not in the car when the assault happened. I take that to mean that his cell phone wasn't hitting the same towers as Jameis's was. Now it could come out that dude could say well I left my phone back at __Blank__, and that is why it doesn't look like we're together.

The other thing of course is even if they had video or cell or both proof that Darby lied, that still doesn't prove that Winston did what the woman said he did. It would prove they lied about him not being alone with her, but not that he did what she said. So it may well be the NFL simply decided there wasn't any way they could prove it so they reduced the sentence.

It would really bother me if I knew that the NFL knew Darby had lied, and still reduced the suspension. But I suspect if the NFL knew for sure he lied, they would have taken some action against Darby too.

cant trust banks statement...dude is already in prison for rape right?? Pretty sure his lawyer advised him to keep himself distant from the entire situation.

if winston was alone, it is he said/she said...withouot any physical evidence they will never convict....best situation is to just write a check and make it go away regardless of guilt

Right but if Winston was alone why would he lie and say he wasn't? It's still he said she said as it is, I still can't believe they don't have video evidence.

maybe he said he wasnt alone because he was getting railroaded and wanted a witness on his side?.... he wouldnt be the first person to try and fabricate an aliby or a witness

I would not bank on that. Happens all the time.
