OT: James Harrison - Retirement?

Fool. The man is a fool.

I guess he is not a good enough athelete to learn how to tackle correctly. I have no words to describe my disgust with this man, the way he plays the game, what he says, and the way he is acting. He may be physically strong, but mentally he is about as strong and composed at a 3 year old.

I guess he is saying.......

He is totally out!

I heard about that. It was almost like it was a threat that he might have to retire and the game will lose one of its greats or something.

This is such BS.

It worked getting him a day out of practice though. :lazyass:

Just even more of a reason why he is a moron!

^Exactly^
James Harrison saying he might retire because he can't cheap shot people is like if Mike Tyson had retired because he wasn't allowed to bite opponents ears off. Good riddance, gansta!

What a dumbarse... You can tackle and hit players hard with out using your head as a missile.

BTW, was he taught to punch defensless DB's in a submissive position on the field too?

What a jerk.

I'm not sure about Jerome Harrison, but I'd be happy If James Harrison retired. :D

Indeed!

I think some over-officious jerk of a mod needs to come in and fix the spelling of this thread title. ;)

First off, its James Harrison. Jerome is a running back for the Eagles.

Second, this is bull crap IMO. He's just sad that the NFL is enforcing z strict policy against heavy hits (I am against the new rules, by the way). Same guy who said he hits to injure someone, then back peddles and says he meant "hurt" someone. Six in one hand, half a dozen in the other.

The bottom line is when you play under the shield, you have to abide by the rules of the game. Players are paid an exorbitant amount of money to do what they do. It's the cost of being a professional. Harrison would be leaving a ton of cash on the table if he followed through with this. Again, I doubt he does retire, but if he does, he's just a W.L.B.

Wow, Mike Bell must have done something really wrong to get traded to Cleveland.

Pittsburgh's all up in arms about how unfair the NFL is being to him, how he doesn't try to put people in the hospital at all. They accept how he tried to parse his words and say it's okay to hurt people but not injure them.

The man's an animal, off the field and on the field, in the worst definition of the word. If he couldn't play football, he'd be an oxygen thief.

I could care less if he goes. He has just elevated himself to the top of the a**hole list.

Why does anyone, ESPN especially, give any credence to his retirement talk. If he retired he'd have to give back 9 million of his signing bonus. If thy ever get a test for HGH, it won't be a choice, he'll have to retire. HGH is the only reason he's not an oxygen thief.

For all the bellyaching that the players are doing reagrding the new guidleines for illegal and high risk hits, the one thing that all the hits in question from this past week had: Merriweather, Harrison & Robinson all had their arms down by their sides. None of them were attempting to tackle their opponent, they were launching themselves head first toward their opponent. Robinson at least led with his shoulder.

I like big hits as much as the next guy, but with players griping over long term health benefits for retirees, they can't argue with the league trying to take steps to protect players while they are playing. No one is saying take the hitting out of football, they are saying that if players are playing fundementally sound football, you can still make big hits and plays and play safer. Heck, they changed the rules years ago when Deacon Jones used to decapitate players with his clothesline tackles.
