I wish you could do that with the ESPN game.

Also ESPN 2k5 only allows you to change one passing route at the line. In Madden (2004) you could change each route.
You can change the direction of the run in ESPN too. And to be able to change each route, go to the settings and turn on "Multiple Hot Routes". I don't understand why the default setting is off, but at least you can change that.

Good info on the multiple routes but why would they turn that off?

How do you change the run direction? I had tried hot route then pushing the A button for the RB. I thought I had tried all the button that made sense.

Sorry, I meant 480p.

I'm not too good with the TV tech, so thanks for pointing that out.

OK, that makes sense. PS2 does support progressive output but only on certain games. You also have to have a TV/monitor that supports progressive display.

Eh, No Enhanced or HD TV here, but I do use component video for my DVD player and my PS2. Those component cables... night and day difference.

I got mine at GameCrazy yesterday afternoon. At this point, every place is going to be able to have them, save WalMart and Target..

Why no walmart or target? I can't go get it until after 10:00p and Walmart is going to be the only place open.

Walmart would be a good bet.

Also any game stores like EB games or Gamestop.

McCown is plenty fast enough. I had no problem getting him outside the pocket or running him up the middle. He's not Mike Vick (94 speed), Daunte Culpepper (81), or Donnie McNabb (81). He's on that second level, with Steve McNair (74) and Aaron Brooks (73).

That is incorrect. McCown ran a 4.59 while Culpepper ran a 4.60 so McCown should atleast be an 80-81 speed.

You may have to wait another day for EB and Gamestop so they can get a new shipment in. They sold the majority of their copies were sold via pre-ordering.

However if you have a PS2, there is still a possibility of them having the Collectors Edition still available. A lot of people got scared off by rumors of it not working on older PS2 machines but I haven't had a problem with mine and I own one of the earliest models of PS2.

Other places I suggest checking out to see if they have it would be Best Buy and Circuit City.

k9,

Sorry, I wasn't too clear in my first post. When I was talking about weak and strong side runs, I was refering to NFL2k5. That's why I was asking about Madden because I wanted to know if that's really how the playbook is. Looks like there is some key differences though.

There is an option for Weak-I Pro in the Queens package in NFL2k5, but no option of Weak-I Spread. So you have three WR's but one is lined up where the TE would normally be. You can put the WR who's in the TE position in motion creating a psuedo-Weak-I Spread. There is a standard I-Spread and Strong-I Spread as well as Split Spread. Spread it on!

There is no 3-4 in the Cards NFL2k5 playbook. Do we even use it?

There is a Gun: Trey Right formation in the Flush package. Which is two WR's on the line, one is the lone left WR, the other is the outside right WR. Two inner WR's play off the line, and you have no TE and one RB. Not sure how this compares to the Trips and Trips Bunch, but I think I've seen those formation in other playbooks.

And yeah, the much more vertical was what I was hoping for in 2k5 this year. I guess there is a lot of them in there, but each formation has so few plays.

Got mine at Wal-Mart on Stapley and the 60, they had a bunch for Xbox and PS2, didn't see any for PC, but I did pick up Doom 3 for PC, man that thing kicks much ass as well.

Off to play Madden now.

Hmm, I wonder if there's one for just change run direction. I think I used the flip play audible (I barely ever do it so I don't know). I think it was the L3 or R3 button after you bring up the audible or hot route up. You have XBox though, right? I'm not sure what button that would be. Can you press the joystick with those controllers?

There's a 100+ page manual inside the actual game. It has to have it there if what I said didn't work.

Can anyone give me the lowdown on the Madden 2005 Cards playbook? Mainly anything new and drastic over whatever was there last year.

Our offense includes touchdowns this year, that's new.

does our D include more sacks also?;)

Got my Madden today! McCown is pretty decent. I will definetly work on getting his speed up during my franchise. Still a good runner tho. Boldin is awsome!

Whew that pass blocking, and strength are a killer! You will have DT's in your face all day. But his agility, and acceration are great.

It is sad I can figure this out, without the game in front of me telling me what the numbers mean.

There should be a Betty Ford style rehab clinic for Madden addicts.

I went and picked up Madden as well the graphics are a little more like cartoons but so far the game play is good. I haven't had much of a chance to play it yet.

hey schel,
I looked for the RB direction flip in ESPN today and could not find it. I had used the flip play audible before but that will also flip the TE/FL as well. I can push the joystick down but have not found a combo that works yet. If you find it let me know. Thanks again on the info on the multiple hot routes.

The routes are a lot more vertical this season, and seem to be more directed to the outside. My favorite play (where the slot guy slants to the middle, the two outside WRs run flies, and the RB runs into the flat opposite the slot WR) is gone.

Single back, 3 WR slot hook *w00t*

Is it out on PC today too?

Sorry, I liked to run that play out of the Strong I, 3 WR set, not the single-back. I love running plays out of the Strong I.

I got it last night and play once before bed.

Set up the franchise after work today. Pro is a little too easy so I kicked it up to all-pro. I am able to move the ball pretty easily with the Cards offense.

My brother came over and set up a franchise as well. The Rams. I kicked his ass in Game 1 but he is getting better.
