That is one powerful family. They took on the NFL when Eli was drafted by the Chargers and got what they wanted. Amazing how he get the full benefit of the doubt on the HGH thing too.

No kidding, I mean...look at all the backlash he has had to live with all of these years for possession of a stolen laptop in college and having his dad attempt to prostitute his services (to colleges).

IMO, opportunity.

Right now, the public is, more or less, obsessed with Cam Newton and the way he comports himself in the public, and in contrast, on the other side of the field, there's the perception of how much of a golden boy Peyton is.

In addition to which, with Peyton on the verge of retirement, it's a way for people to define his legacy, or change their perception as he exits the realm of football. Same with the HGH story.

BTW---if this had happened in the age of social media, as with Dan Marino's behavior towards women, we'd have a much different outlook on their legacies from the onset of their careers.

Not sure, but I would guess it's a bit like what TJ said. This also happened before social media blew up, so it was a lot easier to keep it quiet. It didn't just come out though. It's been public knowledge for a while it seems, but the media chose to ignore it and not report on it. He's been a media darling since forever, so it's not that surprising that they would ignore it and not dig into it. Some may not like hearing it, but some players are treated differently because of who they are or where they come from.
I saw the story mentioned a few weeks back, googled it to find out what it was about and quickly found what it was about. I hadn't seen the details that you can read in the court documents I posted, but that stuff was public as well, and could have been found easily.

It's actually been reported many times over the years. It is likely being brought up whenever Manning has a successful season - like winning the SB this year. Twenty year old story still has legs...

Be careful not to jump hastily to conclusions. The court documents that King referenced were drafted by the prosecution. In essence, you're gauging your opinion based on one side of the story.

If I'm going to sue someone in court, my lawyer is going to embellish the hell out of any court documents to strengthen my case and make the defendant look worse than Satan on paper.

Not saying this King report isn't true, but people passing ultimate judgement on Peyton are literally doing so with 1/2 of the available information.
