What a misleading thread title! I thought he was just pleading guilty to something again.

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
Duckjake - Me either Bert. All I judge the guys by is did they help the Cardinals win a football game so the great buzz I got pre game and during the game wasn't ruined. In all honesty, I could give a ratz .... about anything else.

Duckjake, same goes here? or only signing autographs?

My wife is an Eagles fan but she doesn't pay them any mind as long as Vic is on the team. I guess middle of the road talent goes over morals any day of the week. Just look at how many players in the league who got in trouble with the law during the lockout. They still have jobs. If I got jammed up like that, I'd be lucky to get a job cutting grass.

If he plays anywhere near the level he did last year for four more years than the $40 million guaranteed is worth it. The $100 million figure is worthless.

Don't care dude.

I'd be ecstatic if Michael Vick ran in a TD with 12 seconds left to win the Super Bowl for the Cardinals. Could give a .... if he walked out of the stadium without signing autographs after the game.

Heck I'd be ecstatic if Vick ran one in to beat the 4and9ers who have kicked our rears 4 times in a row and even beat us twice when they had the worst team in the NFL in 2004.

Stupid Denny.

The man served his time. Repented and has done just about all anyone can ask to make amends... Who knows - they might find more dogs hanging from a tree one day in his backyard... but I doubt it. Unlike Tiger Woods, Vick has been open and sincere in his attempt to move beyond his troubles.
The money? Good for him...

He also did some things that warranted a harsher sentence than most celebrities who get in trouble do. I really don't want to be unreasonable and it's in my nature to give people the benefit of the doubt and a second chance (and a third chance, and a fourth chance etc.) but I just can't overlook what Vick did.

If it had just been the dogfighting I could write that off to the differences between where I grew up and where he grew up but what he did went well beyond that. What he did was sick and it disgusts me every time I hear him once again glorified for his ability to play football. He's done his time and on one level, that's all that matters, but it doesn't mean I have to forgive or forget what he did. He's a mass murderer in my book.

I have ceased to look to professional athletes as role models. He is a person with a different set of values, and what he did is laughed in a significant portion of the world. I love animals, and do not condone torturing them however, he served his time and it is time for everyone to move on. He has the right to earn a living like anyone else in this world using the skills that he has.

I don't mean to be argumentative and I respect that you're comfortable with who and what he is but why in the world should I "move on"? I'm okay with others moving on if they can reconcile his behavior but I simply cannot.

I have no forgiveness for child rapists, people that kidnap others for money, criminals that promise to get you into the country for a new life and then put you into a life of servitude and so on. I don't feel the need to ever excuse their behavior and I feel the same way about Vick. The law says he's done his time and he has a right to earn a living etc but I have a right to consider him a scum sucking SOB till the day I die. I choose to exercise that right.

i also wouldn't say he's been open & sincere

he's been well handled & managed ..... but he still really can't come to grips with what he did

IMO, to fully take responsibility & apologize for something you need to both admit what you did and understand why it was wrong

with him it's always things like "i let myself get influenced by others" - "i thought some things were acceptable but they were not" - "it cost me and my family a lot of money which sucked", etc

never - I feel terrible for butchering those animals because that kind of abuse is never acceptable - I don't care about the money lost, the time spent, etc because what I did was horrible - however, I have had time to reflect on my actions and vow to try and live my life in a better manner and be a better person while understanding that whatever I do now I cannot undo what I have done in the past

If the only reason you're all over Vick is that you're a Dog Lover then you need to go take a look at all the people who have been mauled by Dogs that owners couldn't or wouldn't control.

I think that the Feds need to put an end to Pit Bulls. You can keep the ones you have but they all have to be fixed so the breed dies out. Several other breeds I can think of would fit that bill also.

Works both ways.

Let the man play football.

That's not it at all, it's the pleasure and the measure of the extent that he went to, he enjoyed it. Dogs just happened to be the animal there, that's not a culture or a sporting thing, I am done with this thread.

This comment sucks. I'm fine with everything else you said (including the "let the man play" comment) but this one sentence just sucks. I hate that word but I can't come up with anything else to describe this comment. Take that same logic and apply it to any other situation and see how it holds up. And btw, I'm not a dog lover. Strictly a cat lover but I have no sympathy for anyone that would repeatedly torture and murder innocents.

Sorry, Duck...dogs don't have the same sense of right and wrong that we do. As you said - it is the owners that are responsible for their dogs. Owners have been held responsible for the actions of their dogs - even murder/manslaughter.

As for Vick:

It takes evil in a man's heart to electrocute, strangle, and drown dogs with his own hands. It's something serial killers do.

And what does the eloquent Mike Vick say? "Why don't people like me? It's just something that happened..."

No remorse, except he feels bad for getting caught. He's a piece of crap.
