Why is it silly? The bench press is a sign of strength. The fact that he couldn't even do it one time is very telling.

Because its basketball not football! Their are I am sure lots of players in the NBA that are not strong bench pressing players that do just fine. Let not forget the kid is 19 and still has plenty of time growing and strengthing. Its ******** that this is even and issue with Durant the kid is a freakish talent and still has room to grow and get better.

There would be suitors all over the place, but I think they would be crazy to pass on him. Players with his ability don't come around often, but I guess anything is possible.

It really depends on the market value of Lewis in a sign and trade. It is not obvious that both guys can be on the court at the same time (unless you have D'Antoni as coach).

The Sonics have an awful lot of needs, so you don't know which they will go for veterans using Lewis or for other draft picks by trading Durant. It depends on what is offered.

Can't agree more. If it were me, I'd keep the Durant pick. Rashard has a history of injuires, and has had his heart questions numerous times.

We'll see. I don't think 1 bad workout is going to be the end of it. It happens.

There is one thing these tests don't show: the motor. If you check Noah results, they are not very good. He is supposed to be a very athletic and mobile 7ft and seems slow!!!
But when you watch a game... you understand! This kid has a great motor and can run from the first to the last minute of the games (very few 7ft can).
I think all these measurements are interesting as a part of the picture. But they don't say everything about players athletism.

Just one more think about bench press.
It shows your strength but also if you are used to this exercise. Players who didn't practice bench press can't obtain good results.
A player like Noah as obviously practice mucch (he knows he needs to get Stronger and worked on it these last years) and is 12 repetitions are very good given his frame.
Durant is 19yo and hasn't work much on his body yet.
Traore is 249 lbs and is known for being very strong. But he probably didn't practice bench press much and that why he can't make more than 11 repetitions (he is obviously stronger than Noah).

It depends on what you are looking at. Noah graded well on the jumping category.

I agree. I was focused on his speed. It is supposed to be is biggest strength. I am sure it is, but this kind of measurements doesn't show it.

The key to running in basketball is not how fast you can run the first time down the court, but the 20th, 40th, etc. Running hard the whole game will get you down court a lot faster than a great athlete that doesn't keep running hard.
