Win win situation for me and any other PAC 10 fan that doesnt care much for USC

He was a very average coach in the NFL when he coached the Patriots.

But he is an amazing college coach and recruiter.

Success hardly ever transfers from college to the pros. Ask Dennis Erickson.

But by all means; bring him to Seattle. It only helps the Cardinals, and my Wildcats :)

:lmao:

I was just going to post the same thing. I'd love to see Carroll w/the Seahawks.

Just saw a post on a UCLA board taken off a USC board that explains this whole thing.

The guy linked to McKnight and now Mayo(Schenter) is actually a UW alum and booster(this is true). So clearly what happened is this guy hated that UW can't compete with USC so he setup Joe McKnight via the SUV by hiring McKnight's girlfriend. Then to really make it look bad he registered the domain names for McKnight and Mayo and registered a car with Mayo's name on the plates.

He doesn't actually have any connection to either guy it's all a setup to get USC in NCAA trouble. He leaked the story to the LA Times himself through friends and then waited for them to investigate and find all the "dirt" he put there for them to find.

Now I don't actually believe that's what happened but you have to admit that it would actually be possible for a booster of another school to do something like that if they had the resources? I think this is a case of Occam's razor the most likely outcome is the simple one, that the guy was providing extra benefits to McKNight and Mayo and got caught, but it sure does make you think what a wealthy fan could do if he really wanted to screw over another school.

But Russ,Mayo's agent said that he never received anything while at USC . Mayo was as dirty as they come. OSU wouldn't even touch him and he was an hour away. Football-wise, Fred Davis and Dwayne Jarret recruiting practices were, let's say, a bit shady. Pete's been cheating from day 1.

Seattle Seahawks targeting Pete Carroll as their next coach [updated]

January 8, 2010 | 3:40 pm
The Seattle Seahawks, who today fired coach Jim Mora, are close to reaching an agreement with USC's Pete Carroll to be their next coach, The Times has learned.

Seahawks contingent including CEO Tod Leiweke interviewed Carroll in Los Angeles earlier this week to gauge his interest in replacing Mora.

Although the Seahawks and Carroll are close to a deal, which is believed to be a five-year contract to become president and head coach at $7 million a year, nothing has been signed, said sources close to the situation who are not authorized to speak until a deal is in place.

I understand that Carrol wants to get out of Dodge... But Seattle? Really?

Lets be honest here, most coaches get 3 years to turn a team around... The Seahawks have a TERRIBLE offensive line, an old average QB, no WR of note (although Butler could be a nice #2), and no franchise RB (although Forsett did somethings late)

Their defense highlighted by Trufant (Always seems to be hurt) and highlytouted LB Curry (had just 54 tackles and 2 sacks this year, horrible production from a LB).. not to mention they have no safties and their DLine was terrible...

Your telling me Carrol couldn't get a better team to inherit... I get the Paul Allen is the owner, but the Seahags are a LONG ways off, I would be shocked if they won 8-9 games over the next 3-4 years... the question is will Carrol stay after back to back 5-6 win years...

I just don't get it... I really don't... I think I am happy though...

Just to be clear I don't believe for a second that theory on what really happened. I think USC has been dirty for years and it's finally catching up to them.

Remember, if you read the Blind Side they tell you write in that book that the idea for getting Oher diagnosed as Learning Disabled and signing him up for BYU online classes came from the new coach at Ole Miss, Ed Orgeron. ANd what school did Ed Orgeron leave to join Ole Miss? USC, which had been using the LD and BYU online gimmick for years themselves.

USC wanted to get better and to do so they reduced their academic standards, increased academic fraud and then started doing anything else they could get away with.

I mean remember when McKnight announced on live radio that he had been concerned about probation over Reggie Bush until Pete Carroll called Bush and let him talk to McKnight? When Pete then announced that never happened McKnight recanted after being told it was an admission to an NCAA violation. Is it any surprise 3 years later McKnight is caught?

Not really, USC has already talked to Mike Riley who can probably do more with USC's talent that Carroll would without Sarkisian and Chow.

Then Oregon State would dissipate. Either way you look at it, one PAC 10 team theoretically loses power in the conference.

Still, even if you plug in a good coach like Riley, it's going to take a year or two to adjust to a new system. Carrol, by far, is a better coach/recruiter. That is irrefutable given his history and how he's turned USC into a perennial powerhouse. Just with Carrol leaving, they will lose a couple of recruits and their talent will start to thin out even more than it already has.

So if you are correct that Riley is coming over, I strongly feel that OSU and USC lose ground in the PAC 10.

Did I miss it?

Carroll was a mediocre NFL head coach his first time around.

Do we really think having a great setup at USC provided him with a ton of insight into this step?

Yeah but what REALLY is unfair to me is that OJ Mayo, Reggie Bush and Joe McKnight will be making millions while the athletes at USC suffer for their sins.

There's just nothing that can be done the NCAA can't touch players once they leave and they can't stop a coach from taking an NFL or NBA job.
True. :(

If this does turn out to be true and he takes over and is president, what are the odds that he would give us a few draft picks for his boy Matty?

Sc would fall off too. If Carroll leaves because of pending NCAA action that means likely postseason ban for USC football too. If they cut recruiting and scholarships it's going to hurt USC going forward. new coach, new OC, they'll lose players and recruits etc. It's a game changer on the West Coast if PC leaves and if USC football gets hit by the NCAA.

One would assume that UCLA would pick up the slack big time, but who knows. With as big of names as USC pulls, you may see a lot of kids leaving for Big 12 and Big 10 schools.

But hey, if we can pick some of em up in Tucson, it will be worth it.

Carroll to the Seahawks basically a done deal - an announcement expected Monday (assuming they comply with the Rooney Rule this weekend). Whoa! Where is the compliance!?! They interview a minority candidate knowing all along that they will hire Carroll. They are following the letter of the law without following the spirit. I completely agree with and support the Rooney Rule but teams continue to run out a dog and pony show to satisfy the rule. If the rule is designed to give more minority candidates a better chance at getting a HC job in the NFL then it is not working. All it seems to be doing is putting on a good show for the public.

The Rooney rule is complete BS and IMO, if I were an African American coach, I couldnt help but think I was being used by teams to fulfill the obligations of the rule. They contacted the DC from Minnesota and he declined saying that he was just being used for that same purpose.

Ohh and BTW, ESPN is now saying its a done deal

Good...

A brand new, unproven coach.

A brand new system. A declining QB.

Looks like SEA will be down for at least one more year.

STL is not a threat in 2010. Looks like we just have to worry about Mike "have you seen my belt?" Singletery and Alex "pick six" smith.
