After watching most of these ugly teams, I'm going to make my predictions:

1) San Diego will be coached by Bill Cowher next year.
2) San Fransisco will be coached by Dennis Green (that's right) next year.
3) There will be two other possible coaching vacancies (Giants and Bengals) next year. If the Cards lose Grimm, it will be to one of those two teams.

That may be right now. But, I truly feel that SD knows they need another tough minded coach to bring their team back. Cowher will be begged to take the job.

how about Redskins? If the Skins finish 8-8, which is a real possibility, I just dont see Joe Gibbs coming back.

As for No. 2, we as Cardinal fans can only hope. Patrick Willis would get cut in training camp because he has a bad attitude and Frank Gore will be moved to Left Tackle.

San Diego -- I think they win enough games down the stretch to win the AFC West, and that ought to be good enought to save Norv for a year.

I think if Gibbs goes, it will be on his terms. Also, they have two HC's in waiting already with Saunders and Williams. One of them would be tabbed to be Gibbs' replacement.

I guess we can empathize with San Diego fans the way the owner has just about screwed everything up. And then it will continue with Turner with them winning in spite of him. That's too bad, because that talented team deserves better than Turner as head coach.

I will go on record that none of those will happen. ;)

The Skins can't fire Gibbs. The fans would tar and feather Snyder.
I agree. He is a class act, HOFer and a God here in DC. The question is how long Gibbs will stick around. The man has too much pride to coach a losing team if he thinks others may do a better job. It may come to a point where he just cuts his losses. There has been rumors around Washington lately that Grimm will be their next HC.

Agreed. And Grimm to Skins could happen too IF Gibbs steps down, which he could. Nolan won't be fired, maybe Lewis. How about Reid?

Cowher will be coaching the Carolina Panthers
Pete Carroll will be coaching the San Diego Chargers.
Gibbs will retire and Snyder will bring in Jon Gruden.
49ers will keep Mike Nolan but bring back Norv Turner to run to offense which is his storng suit.
Ravens will fire Billick. Rex Ryan will be the head coach.
Tampa Bay will hire Mike Martz or Mike Sherman.

Miami will give Cameron another year and the Falcons will also give Petrino another year.

Anything could happen with the Giants and Couglin but if they make the playoffs which they will he may get another year.

Denny Green won't get another chance to coach. His career is finished.

Random contribution: The Rams will not fire Linehan. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see them wind up 5-11, going 5-3 in the second half. Atlanta's very beatable, Cincy can be had, and they could certainly pull another upset. This week's game with the Seahawks is a true Admiral Ackbar Special. Anyway, Linehan gets another year, and probably deserves it, given the way injuries destroyed the offense.

Martz is not going to get another head coaching job for another season or two at least.

Also, yeah, Denny Green is done done done done done. Wayne Fontes will get another job before he does.

I'm pretty sure Mike Brown has already said that Lewis will be back. I think Jason Garrett will be the "hot" candidate next year with th results he has gotten from Dallas's offense. Cowher to SD, I could see happening. Tampa isn't going to fire Gruden. Billick will likely be gone.At least he should be. I think they give Nolan another year in SF. Gibbs and Reid make their own calls. I say both, more likely Reid, stay one more year.
This may be a year when there is less than 5 openings. If every possible guy on the hot seat got canned/quit it would be B'more, SD, Carolina, SF, Was, Phi. I don't see all of them making changes.

I think this is very likely to happen. Cowher is from there and could coach and be with his family. Plus, Fox is probably gone, so the timing should be right.

Kudos, az jam. This looks right on the money on all accounts, save perhaps Cowher winding up in Philly or Washington (with Andy Reid either taking a year off or possibly heading to Carolina). If Cowher goes to Philly or Washington...look for Rich Rodriguez (WVU) to head up the list in Carolina, even though Rodriguez just signed a long-term extension.

I think you are so right about Rex Ryan.

Forgot about Reid. He won't be back with the Eagles. Will probably take a few years off. You are right that Cowher could end up at either Washington, Phillly (or Carolina).

Also agree that Rodriguez may be the hot candidate from the college rank

Speaking of Dennis Green...

A few weeks back I caught an interview with him on the radio. He was asked if he would coach again. As best as I can recall his response was:

"Sure. But only if I don't have to "sell" the team to the community. When we arrived in Ariz. they were only getting 15,000 fans to their games. When we left they were getting 60,000 +. Nevertheless. I don't want to have to "sell" the team to the community. It's too hard."

That was the gist of his statement.

Just thought I'd share it with you all.
