Not to mention he is the starting QB for the Superbowl winning Seahawks so he will be swinging with any woman he wants from now on.

What madness was he thinking getting married at this age, and profession in the first place ? That is just nuts !

Not even 2 years, they were only married 16 months. He got married in January 2012. Makes you wonder what the deal is. Honeymoon phase is barely over and they are splitting.

If he knew long term they werent a match this is brilliant. Next Contract would dwarf the 500K he makes now. Smary guy.

Might be some dents in the Seahawks luster though.

I would bet her lawyer is still going to try to get some part of future earnings.

Absolutely...that happens all the time. She "supported" her husband as he built his career and will be rewarded for her efforts.

A lot of states have laws on alimony, in which, you have to prove a certain level of lifestyle/living/money before you can get money. Future money is not typically considered so he's likely losing half of what he has now before he gets the big payday.

Also, states generally say 'x' amount of years not working, being at home, can allow you to be eligible for alimony.

Typically, a high percentage of marriages fail in the first year (somewhere around 90% last I heard) and then they have a better chance of working out. Of course it's not as simple as that, other mitigating factors can cause it like age, social standing, etc.

Good luck to him. I've been through one myself and it's a sad process but generally necessary.

I can't say in any way he's "lucky," divorce sucks.

That said, thanks for scaring me away from marriage, guys.

Wilson has been positioned as the infallible boy next door and while divorce can happen to anyone you don't expect that news from Kurt Warner and I got the sense that it didn't fit with Wilson's brand either. Must be more to the story based on how it was released.

But Kurt married a divocred woman in Brenda with two children from a previous marriage. Not sure how that getting a divorce plays into someones personality.

There's nothing to be scared of Solar. I just got married last Saturday to a wonderful woman. It's my second marriage. My first one ended with an unexpected passing of my first wife. Had 26 good years with her. Now 7 years later I am starting a new life with another great woman whom I hope to stay with until the death do you part comes again. The important thing I found is you need to be good friends besides being partners, lovers, etc. That and an honest relationship. Mix those two things with love and you will have a pretty good thing going.

You are welcome.

It is a farce. If two people love each other they don't need paper, rocks, or stone.

Its a dated, sexist ritual in my opinion.

Nothing to do with personality and everything to do with perceptions of the brand. Part of Kurt's story is how he came in and rescued the damsel in distress with a special needs son and raised him as his own along with six other kids but the point was less about Kurt and more about how I have perceived Wilson based on the way he has been presented - right or wrong. He may still be that guy for all I know but I think the way this was announced seemed a little too polished. Why spin such a personal issue through the team's media department? Many NFL guys have way bigger issues than divorce - look at D. Wash and Cromartie. What draws the scrutiny is when a celebrity either paints themselves or someone else paints them as above reproach and then they have a human failing.

he may be lucky that his divorce happened now vs in the future, anyone who gets divorced is luckier if its earlier as if your marriage is a farce it should end asap but to call the guy lucky that he is getting divorced just because hes getting divorced is juvenile. hopefully he doesnt have children involved.

Lucky as in,...most often the pro athletes get divorced AFTER they sign the $60 million deal,...his at least, is before.

I am sure we can all agree that divorce suxx ass...been through two of them myself,....but if one can detect the incompatibility early on and cut their losses they are ahead of the game IMO.

It is sad that a situation like this is called lucky by anyone, IMHO. Who cares about the money? Not everything in life boils down to money. On Sundays I want R. Wilson to lose and lose badly when he is playing the Cards or when it would benefit the Cards, but in his own private life I wish him all the best and feel bad that it didn't work out for him and his longtime girlfriend/wife.

You just know shyster lawyers are going to be beating down her door to try and get some sort of attachment to his future earnings.

Thank you Brian, If you would have asked me if I ever thought I would get married at age 58 I never would have thought it possible. You never know what life is going to give you or throw at you. In this case I got very lucky!

um...Dan, might not want to use the term shyster. lots of jews might get pretty offended at that. I'll assume you don't realize it's a common jewish slam, but just for future reference, might want to use a different word.

That's interesting.. My mom called me a shyster all the time when I was young.. It was a term of endearment, she would smile while saying it. Like she was proud I figured something out or something like that.. We don't have one Jewish person in my family.. Again, I find this interesting.. Would have never known..
