Looking ahead to the next television contract is why the committee went with the two teams over the one. Flip one of the teams to the NFC and each network has a team in the nations second largest television market.

I expect a Chargers / Cardinals conference flip. From a fan perspective, I can live with that.

The Rams and Chargers in Inglewood makes by far the most sense that is why it won't happen.

It should be the Rams and Chargers...share a stadium and no realignment (less travel for the Cardinals). This makes the most sense.

If the Rams stay in STL (not very likely)...they should move to the AFC West because of natural rivalry with KC.

For the owners vote - there are now two options:

Raiders/Chargers in Carson

Rams/Chargers in Inglewood

Of course, everyone and their children would push for the latter, and it is said that support for Carson is a motivator to get Kroenke to become more pliable with sharing the Inglewood stadium with Spanos/Chargers...

Some nice stew is simmering.

First round of votes completed. Rams/TBD in Inglewood gets more votes than Raiders/Chargers in Carson. Nobody at required 24 yet.

Waiting on the white smoke...

Writing officially on the wall for #Chargers Dean Spanos: Get on board w/ #Rams in Inglewood or burn it all down.

Guys. Stop messing with the #Rams Wikipedia page. Unless you know something. Then meet me in the Westin lobby.

The Pavlovian response to the lobby elevator bell at the Westin right now is intense.

Usually when big votes debated by NFL owners come up nothing passes until the 11.9999th hour after falling apart several times #LA Let's see

First round of votes was 20-12 in favor of Rans/TBD in Inglewood – short of the required 24. LA committee now meeting with Spanos and Davis.

Wow.

it's the equivalent of putting the UoP in Glendale. Man, the 405 is going to be a nightmare now every day of the week guaranteed.

Ugh that bites. Moving the Cards out to Glendale sucked. Even though I don't remember all the logistics my favorite proposal was still the one that had one end zone in Tempe and the other in Mesa.

Source says Inglewood proposal came within 3-4 votes of approval. Next step could be to dissolve Chargers-Raiders and vote on Chargers-Rams.

Rams are in the strongest position.
Chargers need someone to partner with them.

Rams look like they are going regardless of what the NFL says, and owners seem to know it.

That leaves the Chargers without a partner in their plan, unless they really want to shake everything up and dilute their fanbase by having three teams in L.A.

So it appears the owners are actually trying to do the smart thing and force the Rams and Chargers together in the Rams Inglewood project.

Also optically, if memory serves correct, it utilizes the least amount of public money.

But for this to work, they need to convince Spanos and the Chargers that it can work out for them in Inglewood (farther away then Carson from SD), and that the revenue streams Spanos wanted in Carson, somehow he can get at least some of them in Inglewood.... that and see if all of this is better then staying in SD.

Of course it also means getting Kroenke on board, and perhaps fiddling with the planned development to include some of things Spanos wants... and some sort of way to share the stadium revenue. Wouldn't it be weird if they could somehow have two stadium names? One for when the Rams play, and another when the Chargers? Or at least the same company makes some sort of payment to both teams.

Who knows what happens, but the Rams/Chargers proposal would be the strongest overall, and it would be best for the NFL in terms of not needing realignment, and likely not having to face litigation of some sort.

Also, since the Raiders were brought onboard, someone is going to need to grease their wheels for them to vacate their ambition and for breaking any signed agreement they might have signed with the Chargers. From there they either take that money and add it to any Oakland proposal or maybe use it for some other location like San Antonio... but it may take a few seasons before the Raiders situation is finalized.

At least that's my guess as of now.

The Chargers and Rams burned their respective cities to the ground on their way to applying for relocation. Oakland has been less crass in its statements about relocation.

It has to be those two teams.

This is all just maneuvering to get Spanos some love, the owners respect him.

He probably doesn't want anything to do with the Rams because of not being able to build his own stadium and share in the revenues so they're going to try and get Stan to play some ball.

I think Stan is going no matter what they do so I don't know how much love he's going to have for this.

From my understanding there will be no more NFL $$$ for stadiums after this LA stadium is built unless the NFLPA gives some back & we know that ain't happening.

I can easily see the Raiduhs getting hosed again & San Antonio here they come.

It's possible the NFL could still try to force a Rams/Chargers marriage in Carson.. not sure Kroenke would play ball as just a joint tenant vs. all the development he wanted to do in Inglewood, but he's pretty much alienated himself out of St Louis already.

Chargers have already said that isn't going to happen. They won't move this year if they try.

posturing. word in LA for the last week is that Kroenke is willing to go partnership with Spanos on the stadium. Supposed to be the most likely outcome. I still think no one moves and this is just another in a long line of complete and utter circle jerks LA has seen for over 20 years.

The problem with another team at the Inglewood site is that Kroenke owns the land. Thus, the other team has to either be a tenant or pay Kroenke for the land. That's why Inglewood is out of the question for the Chargers. Spanos isn't going to give Kroenke a freaking penny, much less millions.

I think it speaks loudly as to how crappy the LA market actually is for the NFL that owners feel two teams have to be there. In my mind, the Rams should move back PERIOD. But, that isn't even on the table now. I have a good bit of family in LA, and they don't give two farts about the NFL. And that is far from unusual there.

You can bet it's gonna happen Cheese, the league wants it. Like I said, I think it's Lambs/Bolts in LA & Raiduhs to SA. I think the deal is done before this night ends.

The problem is there really isn't a Charger following in LA & the Raiduhs can't fill a stadium in Oakland.

Meh, go back to the 80's/90's and go with a joint stadium of Rams n Raiders and send the Chargers packing to STL. Or better yet London.
