Former Phoenix Suns player Richard Dumas arrested during roundup

Former Phoenix Suns player Richard Dumas arrested during roundup

http://www.azfamily.com/news/Former...-Dumas-arrested-during-roundup-236743201.html

Former Phoenix Suns player Richard Dumas is among 151 people arrested in a pre-holiday roundup of theft suspects in Arizona.

The U.S. Marshals Service says Dumas was arrested Thursday in Litchfield Park on a warrant charging him with eight counts of organized retail theft.

Marshals Service spokesman Frederick Freeman says the charges against Dumas result from a Maricopa County indictment, but he didn't immediately have further information.

Such a shame. Had so much potential when he entered the league...then he got into drugs, etc.

I guess this is disrespectful, but I didn't realize he was still alive.

This kid had so much star potential it was ridiculous. Drugs really did him in. Really a shame how far he has fallen.

Sadly, I'm not surprised. I read all the 20 year stories since our Finals appearance and his story wasn't very good. Before entering the thread, I assumed it was drug related and it might still be indirectly. Gotta feed the habit. It's a sad, sad story of wasted potential and lack of ambition.

I see Dumas all the time at Lifetime Fitness running his basketball camp. I shot hoops with him a few weeks ago. He still has that funky one-handed shot (and no range).

What a crappy situation. I really hope this warrant was for something in his past and not something he is currently involved in.

What I heard he was working as a janitor at Luke AFB, and was captured on video eight times,, stealing federal property. *Eight counts filed against him.

Once, a fine offensive weapon, a lucrative future, and a nice bank account,,,,but like other NBA players before him, no common sense and pizzed away the money. Pretty weak education profile when one goes from making big bucks in pro sports, down to a janitor's job, no? I'll let you guys feel sorry for him.....I don't.

*Innocent until proven guilty

I couldn't care less about Dumas. I feel bad for the kids though, he has a nice program going.

Which is it? You don't care,,,,,,,,,,,but you really hope.....

What are looking for here? He already told you which it is. The guy was running a program that benefitted kids and he's mostly bothered by the demise of this program. If this charge was something from his distant past Dumas could still be on the road to making something of himself and his youth program might still have a future. If it's just the latest in a long line of setbacks it will likely end his program. Maybe I'm reading something into your posts that isn't intended but you're starting to come across like you're not only unsympathetic, you're actually reveling in the guy's misery.
