Seems like they are giving him a legit chance to win the job. Not sure I would have called a John Skelton vs. Russell Wilson QB matchup in week 1 a month ago, but seems like it isn't out of the realm of possibility at this point.

I think Russell Wilson is a real talent. Seems Seattle might have a couple of players at the position.

Yeah, I have watched him in pre-season. Hate to say it, but he looks good. Running ability gives him an added dimension of threat.

I hope they start him. Please start him Petey. Name the last QB like him that has sustained success at the NFL level. Sure, they may be good for a game, or a short stretch, but you have to go back to Fran Tarkenton to find a QB of that ilk with any long term success. I put Russell Wilson in the class with Doug Flutie, Tark, Troy Smith, and Seneca Wallace.

Once the games start for real, you have big guys just as athletic as Wilson that will run him down and there aren't too many 5"11 QB's that are going to beat you from the pocket.

before they figure that out maybe we should offer them a fifth rounder for Flynn....

Ummmmm Drew Bree's does pretty well though he's 1" taller :D

I get what your saying Cbus, but I think it's way to early to say Wilson can't do it, especially since he's been doing it all preseason.

Btw I see zero chance he starts over Flynn in week 1 given $$$ & the trade to get him.

That's why I said there aren't too many short QB's. Brees is definitely the exception. Plus Brees has always been a pocket passer while Wilson gets by with more athleticism. But you're right, he could prove me wrong. I also think Flynn starts week 1.

The Poodle thinks he can outsmart NFL physique and general rules for success. I say let him coach in Seattle forever.

and San Fran rejoices. I like Russell Wilson, but facts are that he is physically limited in what he can do, abd the league will exploit these limitations. Nothing I like more than playing against 3rd round or later rookie QBs.

Way to create your own QB drama Pete.

Looks like your gonna get your wish in week 1. Wilson is lighting it up again in dress rehearsal. IMO Horton is either gonna scheme him into a bad game or he will light us up like Newton did last year.

LOL...or, he plays like a rookie and starts out a little slow and gets better as he gets more experience. There is an inbetween option, too.

I think Wilson is the real deal and it's bad news that he's in our division.

What we ought to be doing is trying to work a deal to get Flynn, as unlikely as that may be. Based on this pre-season, he's light years ahead of Skelton and Kolb.

JMHO.

I would rather have Colt McCoy.

Yeah I'm watching this game right now and Wilson looks quite badass actually. Had a really nice pass in the end zone (outside left shoulder, middle of the field, was a bullet). Had a nice run and some nice checkdowns.

He's beating Flynn's ass bad.

I remember Jeff Garcia having a pretty sustained run of success as a smaller-type QB. I know he's listed at 6'1", but there's no way that's true.

He did to a point. Plus, he had been around awhile and, I think, even played in Canada. It's not like they built a team around him and counted on him as being "the guy". I don't remember for sure, but didn't SF turn to him out of desperation and he ended up playing well? I'm not taking anything away from him, and he's more the exception than the rule, but he was never a guy too many considered a top QB. Other than 1 stellar year in SF where they went 12-4, he was a middling QB. His career finished with a 58-58 record and an 87 QB rating. Looking at his career, he looks like more of a guys who benefited from the SF West Coast system as he struggled everywhere else, sans 1 decent year in TB.

LMAO thats what I say. " We are going to do everything better than

everyone else" quote by Pete Carroll when first introduced as the coach

of the Seahawks

I can see Campbell swatting a few of his balls up in the air. Hopefully into

the arms of Cardinal defenders:)

The guy is a beast. Very entertaining watching him play.

At least it creates something interesting, total melt down of the Seahawks lockerroom.

Carrol probably was just trying to make a point that this was also a QB competition with Flynn and Wilson, but he never expected Wilson to go and do that.

So he pretty much shot himself in the foot. Got this guy they paid up for, and one who out performs him for a fraction of the paycheck.

sound familiar?

I believe they will stick with Flynn as starter just because itd be egg on their face (like we are experiencing) if they acknowldge that the backup is way better than the starter.

There is no way they can't start him week 1 against us IMO!!! Wilson absolutely lit it up the whole preseason including "dress rehearsal". Petey would get crucified in the media & Hawk fans considering how much he praised him & also played him.

It would be the shocker of the year if Wilson isn't starting against the Redbirds week 1. Btw the difference in comparing the 2 situations is that the Hawks QB killed it, while ours sucked most of the preseason...apples & oranges.
