Not sure why this guy is such a big name in coaching. After his last super bowl like about 10 years ago he won I think one playoff game since. And the two super bowl teams weren't even his rosters, someone else built that team for him, the teams he built were the ones that only won one playoff game in 10 years.

Redksins are going to crash and burn with is overrated coach.

True he never won a SB without Elway but he won 10 games what 7 times in Denver and he made guys like Brister and Plummer into viable NFL QB's.

The problem he had in Denver wsa too much power, good coach, lousy GM which he was even though in name they had another GM. Hopefully Washington is smart enough to not let him have that much power. If they retain Williams to coach the defense that will help too.

Shanahan is the best coach in the NFL when it comes to working with QB's, he was great with the run game too although it will take them awhile to get an OL that can play the way he wants (smaller athletic guys who can do that zone blocking scheme he likes).

If he has the same authority he had in Denver it won't work but if they let someone else be the GM I would expect Washington's offense to get better pretty quickly.

Brister was a playoff QB in Pittsburgh. Plummer won as many playoff games in AZ as he did in DEN. I wouldn't give Shanahan any credit for those two. Fact is, Shanahan never developed any young QB's in Denver, period.

Shanahan is a good coach, but vastly overrated, I've been saying that for years. Like Joe said, in the last 10 years in Denver he won one playoff game and only one division title. Overrated.

I only hope this ends up being another bad hire by Snyder. Still one of my Cardinal memories was the Plummer led Cards beating the Cowpies in the playoffs in Dallas. Shanahan I also believe is overated.

I despise the Deadskins. I lived in the DC area for almost 15 years & would go to RFK every year & watch the Officials screw us royally. I hate them so much that I root, root, root for the Cowboys in that rivalry.

Washington isnt smart enough. They Also gave Shany the title of President of Football Operations or something like that which is a title higher then Bruce Allen the GM. Shany will be running the show from top to bottom concerning football operations, he has complete control.

This article says it all - http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/12747104/snyder-picks-shanahan-to-take-pressure-off

Very smart move by the Redskins...they already have a playoff caliber defense.
