This isn't hard to understand. It's so damn difficult to get a good QB, if a guy plays above average and makes the playoffs teams are almost forced to extend them. Free agency for QBs always sucks unless you get the once every decade situations like Manning, Montana or Brees. Then, if you are in the playoffs, you have almost no chance of drafting a bona fide, start from day 1, franchise QB.

Lmao :biglaugh:

While your at it, let's just count his rushing yards as passing yards too :D

We don't have to count them as passing yards, but we ought to count them. Is there some reason why we shouldn't count rushing yards and TDs?

LOL! Not trolling, just pointing out the obvious.

At any rate, considering "developing" is more or less the opposite of regressing, as the passing statistics would indicate, I'm not sure you have a great grasp of any of those concepts.

In reassessing his statistics, I don't see where the development is in his four-year career. At this point, if he were anything more than serviceable, he would have improved from his rookie season. He's a known commodity at this point.

See for yourself:

These stats show he is progressing in the passing game from 2011-2013. 2014 is still in progress. Less ints more TD's.

I actually agree with you but you're going to get destroyed on this. There are too many old, conventional, stat driven dudes on here.

Your point is valid however. Rushing stats and TDs by a QB should be factored in differently than they currently are. It's the new breed of QB. It's a different era.

It's different than anything we've seen in football for 100 years. I think for dudes to say it's not a factor or should be factored in the same as before are misguided. Wilson, couple weeks ago, ran for 100 and threw for 300...that is insane. How do you factor that into stats and what that does to a defense?

It absolutely should be factored into the equation. Cam Newton is a freaking beast, I don't know what some of ya'll are talking about. He's got the same type weapons as they do on the Jets lol. Ridiculous.

Yeah, a QB who can hurt you running the ball is a real weapon. I'd take Newton as a QB on this team within one heart beat. That is, once Palmer is done here. Palmer really deserved this extension with the leadership he has shown. Completely awesome how he took John Brown under his wing. On top of all that, he has played really well this year and Stanton and Thomas are both still questionable as QBs good enough to get you to the playoffs.

Dude, they tanked that season. I mean, c'mon, that's blatantly obvious:

2006: 12-4(won SB)
2007: 13-3
2008: 12-4
2009: 14-2(lost SB)
2010: 10-6
2011: 2-14
2012: 11-5
2013: 11-5

No team has that much of a drop off then rebound. No team.

Or, a more plausible reason for their demise in 2011 was that Peyton's injury exposed the team for what it truly was-- completely dependent on one elite player for its success.

In past seasons, the Colts have had very little depth and defenses that struck fear into no one. The SB winning team averaged over 150 YPC allowed on defense (to put that in perspective, over twice as much as the current Cardinals team allows). Peyton, being the elite player that he is, masked a lot of those issues by torching opponents and screwing up coaches's game plans.

That 2011 team was truly awful from all angles.

I think AP would be a great QB by using those standards. :)

Or they simply tanked. Manning's injury came at an opportune time with 2 elite QB's presumed coming out. Hell, I wish Whiz would have tanked instead of stringing together a useless winning finish.
