I understand, but to those who's lives have changed for the better by following the tenets of a 12-step-program there is no debate about it's effectiveness. I've almost gotten into fights (in bars no less) with people because I disagreed with the process on a philosophical level. It goes right up there on my top-three list of "untouchable" subjects (the other two being abortion and the ACLU).
