No, it isn't. Diluting the product and overexposing everything doesn't make fans happy. The douche commissioner and douche owners will try over time to have football on every day of the week. I can't think of a better way to make everyone shrug and say To Hell With It. They want every minute of my time, every fiber in my brain, and every cent in my wallet. I just want a little weekend diversion watching the Cards for a couple hours.
Almost every TNF game is trash. Last year wasn't any different. I look forward to these games every week but they are almost never worth the time I spend watching them. The truth hurts.
[...] Since 2006, the average margin of victory in Thursday games is 13.6 points. In non-Thursday games (i.e., ones played with a normal amount of rest) 12 points.
[...] Since 2012, home teams in non-Thursday games have a better winning percentage than home teams on Thursdays (.588, 314-220-2 vs. .579, 22-16).
The reason football ratings are so much better than baseball's ratings is mostly that there are so many damned baseball games in an endless season, none of them matter. Too much. Overdone. Overexposed. Diluted.
After the college season is over, they extend to Saturday games as well. So now I've got early Monday games, late Monday games, Thursday games, Saturday games, early Sunday games, late Sunday games, nighttime Sunday games, then I get to start over again Monday.
Blecch. How long before Tuesday Night Football debuts?

I apologize if this question has been asked. We all know that the Thursday night games have been awful, and my question is this:
"How do the TV ratings for CBS (which shows the games, along with NFL channel) compare with the 8-11 ratings for NBC, ABC, and FOX?"

cheesebeef, you done broke the code. No way that the networks/NFL give up the Thursday night game.
I love it too but maybe they need to start TNF week 4 and schedule the games after the two teams bye week. 3 days rest apparently takes its toll.
Considering MLB keeps putting it's playoff games on subscription TV that's not a stretch.haha... any day or time the NFL wants to put their product on TV, it's going to KILL anything else in it's path. Pre-season games... PRE-SEASON AWFUL FOOTBALL GAMES, regularly blast away anything else on the air. Now, some of that is because the networks don't begin fall season new prgramming until September, but I think I saw something that showed that NFL Pre-season games ratings were better then any NBA playoff game, and close to any NBA Finals game this year.
NFL is King in this country and will dominate until... hell, I don't even know when. They faced down one of the ugliest PR nightmares I can remember an entire league having and what happened? Ratings went UP.
