Can't be a bust first year. Sorry.

Have to be considered at least a disappointment, if not a bust-in-waiting. Failing to make the active roster as a 1st-round pick? In an era where you pretty much need your 1st-rounders to contribute from the get-go? Meh.

I don't know the facts on this, but over the past 3 years or so, how many first round o-linemen have cracked the starting lineup in their first year?

Offensive lineman use to play all snaps so doesnt change much being inactive or just warm the bench

When your picking towards the top of the draft you need your first rounder to contribute right away. When your towards the bottom you can draft for depth or take a chance on a project wth upside. Cardinal fans aren't used to this lol.

Melvin Gordon is horrible so far. Another Badger Back

Ridiculous.

I think the only player on that list that is really a disappointment is Cam Irving and we have our own offensive lineman that is struggling to learn the NFL game.

The rest of those players look like rookies, but also look to have a lot of promise.

Trae Waynes is going to be a good one, so are a couple of the players shown.

Kinda silly.

I would think most GMs picking in the first half of the draft or so expect their first round pick to contribute almost immediately. Once you go lower into the draft you can select a player whom you believe will be a major contributor but you don't need them to play immediately especially playoff teams.

Some of these players will get it and become good or better than average players. Others will deserve the bust tag. A very select few will ever be considered one of the best at their position.

Dumping on WIlliams in BAL? I dont get it. How can a TE with so few targets be considered a bust? Because he didnt make good enough friends with Flacco early in the season? Or with the other backup parade theyve had since he went down? These articles suck. Nothing more than clickbait. Our entire media is just clickbait now....

Wow Cam Irving got destroyed in that clip. Not sure I have ever seen an offensive lineman beat worse. Lots of misses in my picks for the draft. Vic Beasley, Trae Waynes, and Cam Irving all had a poor start to their career.

Humphries is by far biggest flop of the 1st round.

At least these other guys getting destroyed are on the field. DJ isn't even active on game day.

Draft Projection Round 1

Sources Tell Us "He can probably come in and play right away, but I'm not quite as high on him as everyone else seems to be. I think he can be good but I don't see a Pro Bowl player." - NFL Director of Personnel

NFL Comparison D'Brickashaw Ferguson

Bottom Line An elite-level tackle when he exited the high school ranks, Humphries relies on his superior athleticism and fist-fight mentality rather than an improved skill set and steady technique. He might always have an issue with being a leaner, but his hand placement should improve with more work and coaching. When he improves in that area, he could become a solid NFL starter on the left side.

Needs to learn a lot for this level. You can get away with just being athletic in college but you better have technique in the NFL or you will get chewed up. I think they let Massie test the FA waters and pin their hopes on DJ at RT next year.

Flat dead wrong. He's sitting because our O Line is working just fine, and Arians' would rather pull off his toenails than change out his O Line in the playoff stretch for no reason at all.

The point is that he isn't even sitting--you have to dress to sit on the bench lol He can't even get the last backup spot on game day? As a 1st round pick? It gets ignored because we're having a great season and, as it stands today, it appears as if we can afford to completely whiff on a 1st rounder, so this isn't getting big headlines. But taking a 1st-rounder that can't beat out Sowell for the game day roster is sad.

With the glaring needs this team had at LB and an edge rusher and for a run stopping D-lineman, I'm calling Humphries a dumb pick. Hell, at this point we would have been better off taking La'el Collins. At least he's making an impact. I mean, it isn't like he is a QB who would be expected to sit a while. He's a lineman and generally they see SOME playing time. Just didn't make any sense taking this guy with Shaq Thompson, a player at a position of need, sitting there.

If the Cards weren't having a great season, he'd be playing. To me, it's of no consequence whether he's active and not playing, or inactive. In fact, I'd rather have him inactive and use his spot on a guy that plays more than 1 position or a special team guy.

And you base this on...? To me, it's of huge consequence, because it tells me he's not good enough, that we don't have enough faith in him, for him to get any playing time at all. If, as you seem to think, the staff has faith in him being able to play, I'd figure he'd get a spot as a backup. He's not even a backup on game day, which is quite sad. And yes, it is of consequence, IMO, because not getting any game day experience, with or without playing time, will set him back. This just reeks of a bad pick to me.

I think you are passing judgment too soon. Remember Arians values experience and he also equates experience to making less mistakes which for Arians is more important than being a gifted yet error prone player. I also think having Humphries inactive is a head game he is playing with Humphries which he may feel will push him to get better at his technique which is also something that Arians believes in. Arians truly values a player that is dedicated to playing with flawless technique and dedicates to doing his job on the field and understanding what his responsibilities are for each and every play.

Early on in the draft process, I was all about Vic Beasley. Looks like it might be good I didn't get my wish.

That's nice, but it leads to a half-wasted year for our 1st-round pick. He can't be getting any 1st- or 2nd-team reps in practice, because those must be reserved for those who will play. He's likely on the scout team and, once the season starts, won't be getting a ton of individual coaching. He's getting zero game day experience. Whether it's Arians playing head games with him or him sucking, it's basically a developmental year wasted, IMO.

Btw, it's a loooooong time between Cards games when we're getting this far into this topic lol

I wasn't a fan of Beasley at all. Anybody could see he added "fake weight" for the combine and he normally played at around 220 in college. And I don't think too many 220 pound DE's are going to be successful regardless of how much speed they have.
