You think the Rams can actually afford him? I don't. Plus you have to think the team will have to extend Stafford again soon, and it would be smarter to do it now than to wait.

The Rams are projected to be at $7 mil cap space next year.
You think they don’t intend on resigning him? I don’t think they have up 2nd and 3rd round picks without that intent.

Its a real curious move to throw a bag at a player who is declining.

7 million in cap space with a good chunk of their OL as FAs and try and fit 18 million plus in? Its a tough thing to do.

I just heard from Rams reporter from the Athletic, Jourdan Rodrigue, that the Rams intend to re=sign Miller if he works out this year. If it's not possible, the Rams will get compensatory pick if he leaves in FA.

Rams are all in with this trade. We need defensive line help with JJ Watt gone. I’m hoping Watt can make it back for the playoffs. Would also love to see us bring Fitz back.

Well, we don’t really have any idea what his market will be. But we obviously threw money at players that fit a similar description this offseason in watt, green, and Hudson.

No they were maneuvering to make this trade when they traded away a young starting LBer the week Prior. About 10 people just on this board said they were maneuvering for something bigger. Had to be. People were even making guesses as to who. I don’t think anyone guessed VM.

While the Rams got Miller and another weapon on defense, I hope in the long run the fact that they have decimated their draft picks comes back to bite them in some way

I find it hilarious the take most casual fans that run with the “all in” and “decimated draft picks narrative”. Just an FYI Rams unlike most most teams we can pick and have picked good starters and contributors in the 3rd to 7th rounds.

The casual fan “all-in” narrative has been around since we traded for Goof, then Aquib Talib/Marcus Peters, then Ramsey, then Stafford, then magically we are all of a sudden “ all in” again with Von Miller. :po_O

Also, Goof/Gurley/Brockers (26mill) money comes off the books next year, Stafford planned restructure and contract lengthen (10millish), and cap going up we certainly means we don’t have cap issues.

Ps our draft picks?

Plenty to get future starters, depth, and contributors.

Going to enjoy being in Your stadium this next game for that win! ;)

It’s been a real joy watching the inaccurate comments over the season. But then again I make fun of my fellow brethren for the inaccurate views on the Cards. Casuals…. Got to Love them

CB outside of Jalen has been a big problem all year for the Rams. I've watched a lot of their games since I live in Cali and my good friend is a Rams fan. Even Darrious Williams wasn't that good this year after looking like he could be a high dollar player.

Fuller has been ok, but him and Rapp haven't replaced John Johnson collectively.

I think the Rams move that hasn't been talked about too much in the media that was dynamite was trading for Austin Corbett. That dude is a real good OL and the Rams stole him away from the Browns.

This is probably the real reason they traded for Miller.

There are no good DB's available and if you can't improve your backfield the only other option is improve your pass rush. Rams opponents YPA has gone from 5.7 last year to 6.5 this year.

And I'm going to whisper this part so I don't invoke a curse. Whispers *Aaron Donald doesn't see like the same threat this year. Was a non entity in our game* Both his sacks and QB Hits are down about 40% on the same time last year.

Watt will not be back.

Why haven't they put him on IR yet? I mean, he's defo not back inside 3 weeks so why not free up the roster spot? Henry got injured on Sunday and was on IR yesterday. Watt has been nearly 10 days now.

You have $8m cap space next year even if they cap goes up to the absolute max. Say you rejig Stafford that's $18m.

That's Von Miller on his own. Not even that because teams like to leave $4-5m for in season and IR replacements.

Williams, Corbett, Gay, Allen and Noteboom all need extending. It's not impossible with some cap magic but it's not simple. Certainly doesn't leave any room for any significant new FA's.

Champagne problems, but you are glossing over the cap crunch the Rams will face.

I was laughing pretty hard at the takes on Ramsondemand on the Cardinals pre and post game. That one dude who says that Bryce Perkins is a better passer than Murray? Thats a hoot.

You can do multiple all in moves during multiple seasons. Snead and McVay have shown a willingness to take that risk.

Boy, we haven't been talking about Bryce Perkins since preseason, but part of the unfavorable comparison is that most Rams fans see Murray as talented, but fragile. I am glad it wasn't our team that knocked him out of the game because it seems that the Rams are always blamed for knocking out Cardinal QB's. Murray has stayed healthier, longer this year, but make no mistake that getting Von Miller is a response to mobile QB's and stopping/containing the run. He will have a career renaissance playing next to Donald and Leonard Floyd AND limited double teams. As a previous poster said, it will help our secondary when the QB has only about two seconds to make decisions before the Dline sacks him. Relying on exotic blitzes will go down dramatically, because we can rush 4 guys and get the same pressure now

We are also getting D. Williams back f4om injury, so that will strengthen one of the corner positions. I guess we will see Miller in limited snaps on SNF, but will be in a rotation, being mindful of his recently healed ankle sprain.

this is a good move for the Rams this year, no question.

Snead has taken a real outlier of a strategy: in a league where a premium is put on inexpensive players acquired through the draft, he has taken the opposite tack.

The Rams D took a step back this year -- in part because high ranked defenses usually do -- but also because a variety of solid young players couldn't be resigned, and there was no draft replacements.

I think getting little in the draft will compound negatively over time. Lots of teams have shown that you can skip a draft either via trade or just bad choices and still be really good. We will see if a team can do it three or four years in a row and still be good.

That is conventional thinking, but not quite correct. The Rams signed and lost a DT like Suh....lost John Johnson and others, but they also received compensation picks for these guys the following year, The Rams have been excellent at finding guys in the later rounds, along with UDFA's that go on to start for the team. Brad Holmes, who the Lions filched this last offseason to be the GM (I believe), was instrumental in finding these guys and I worried what effect it would have on the Rams system, but so far it seems to be good. As a consequence, the Rams are the 5th youngest team in the NFL. You probably didn't notice that Joe Noteboom has exponentially progressed as the Rams future LT after Whit retires. He has started in several games the last couple of years when Whitworth was injured and the transition was smooth. Whit has taken Boom under his wing in the offseason, and the kid has improved in strength and technique.

In other words, our future demise is greatly exaggerated.

**** the NFC West. 80.3 pass rush grade this year.

He's no Von Miller but he's only 24. Good trade for a late round pick.
