Well mike shanahan spent 7hrs with buffalo. Mike Holmgren turned them down, but has said he desires to return to football in some aspect. Then you have bill cower who keeps turning down offers left and right. Of corse there is also john gruden who I have to believe wants to coach in spite of his contract with espn. what do you all think? Cleveland keeps getting rumored with big names, yet they seem to get worse by the year in all aspects to include coaching and aren't exactly the ideal spot if you ask me.

I could see Shanahan in Buffalo. I don't know if Cowher will every come back for anything short of a dream situation.

Big BQ!
Cower is going to take the Dallas Job When it opens up this offseason, and as much as I hate to say it if that happens I will become interested in the teams fortunes because I love Bill Cower so much!!!!!!Dallas with Cower will return to Promonence and I can see him trading SLOMO for a Draft pick and getting a winner in there at QB..

that would be ideal. cower has the defensive background and is a great leader. something that I question with wade phillips who i think makes for a great coordinator not so much a great hc. tony romo is already a winner at qb he will be in place for a while.

Obviously cower would only come back for such a scenario. I think he had a dream situation at pittsburgh and it worked well for him. I think shanahan as well is prime for the same opportunity. He doesn't strike me as a guy who will look to rebuild a team. but he strikes me as a guy who will take a team that is talented and push them over the top. a team like a dallas, chicago, or maybe even a GB. A team that has a cornerstone at QB so to speak. shanahan has excelled in situations when he had great players. He is great at getting the most out of talented guys...brilliant offensive play caller and planner.

I could see holmgren going to a team to rebuild. He did it in seattle, but I think holmgren is looking to be a GM not a coach. Although at this point in his career does he want to be at a cleveland? idk, he might be looking for the ideal situation as well. maybe dan snyder should give him the keys to DC, sit back and relax.

Gruden isn't going anywhere. He just signed an extension with ESPN a few weeks ago.
Is that able to be bought out? Parcells signed with ESPN only to leave shortly after... I think Gruden wants a real job if you ask me. I would like to see him in college. He's young and I think he would be a good recruiter.

For your sake I hope you are right-----what I believe, though, is that Jerry Jones will still call the plays in the war-room and draft crazily like he always has, then end up paying high dollar for bringing in HIS special guys. (Sadly, they end up being mostly prima donnas who want to be paid for looking good). I just don't see Cower and JJ being a match made anywhere NEAR heaven. In fact I would even be surprised to see Cower take an offer from Jones.

actually the only way jerry is going to share the decision making in a draft or personnel decisions is with a HC. He will never bring a GM into dallas, but he will bring in a HC like parcells or jimmy johnson who will make personnel decisions as well. so the notion that jerry is a dictator is not completely true. He wants to be involved that's all...so the HC that wants to call all the shots and keep the owner in the pressbox will never coach in dallas. if parcells can do it...i would think cower can as well. However comma i do agree with you... don't think cower will be in dallas next year or any year.

I'm here in beautiful WNY for T Day with family and the town is buzzing about the coaching situation. My gut says Shanahan is playing the Bills like FAs played the Cards in the past and he will parlay it into a gig out west somewhere. Oakland?
THe new coach here seems to have lit a fire uder the team and is being well recieved by the city. My guess is that he lasts the year and is in the running after the season.

Many teams that hired new head coaches will start over again.Like the Bucs who hired a guy who won't take any responsibility for his actions,he just keeps firing coordinators.

I see Shanahan only going where he already has a talented qb to start with.Plus the team can't be in financial trouble like the skins are in.

I'm thinking one of the next head coaches could be another Harbaugh in the league. He's done wonders at Stanford and Stanford has a great up and coming young qb.He may want to stay a year or two longer. He's never been afraid of usc.Thats for sure.

Lots of unknown qb's will dominate the popular names that have been floated the past two years.Locker from Washington. Not a winning school but a talented kid.Just like Cutler came from a losing program.Except most kids won't have Cutlers tempermant.Thank goodness.

Other small schools have kids that will rise to the top also.I'm not seeing the notre dame kid rated as highly as some are and I really wonder what Florida's Tebow will end up doing. He'll probably play in the Senior Bowl and do everything he can at the combine just to get a chance to play qb in the pro's.

The kid from Oklahoma that has a bad shoulder also has a bad knee that just came out in the news in Bradford and I just think he is two fragile and small MYSELF.Don't know about McCoy either.Kinda small.

I'm forgetting the name of the guy that will rise to the top from a small school right now.So whats new with my memory.I'll edit the name in when it pops in my brain.

The Browns need desperate help. They can look like a high school team at times and have so many talented individuals that just don't mesh as a team. Its sad. The chiefs need to get better and quick or maybe well see our old offensive coordinator looking for a job again.

I think Spags gets to keep his job and continue the process or a total rebuild on the rams.I also think Singletary will get to keep going too.Mora will be on the hot seat next year.Paul Allen won't wait long on him. They need a running game.

The panthers will have a tough decison with coach Fox.They also need a qb.Lovie Smith may be gone if they tank the rest of the season. He really was hurt by major injuries this year. He's a great defensive mind and players will play for him.

You almost have to die in Detroit for them to change head coaches and with a couple wins Shwartz will remain.Cable should be gone in Oakland. That ownership is too much of a joke for anyone to even want the job.

I think the CARDINALS play the AFC WEST next year so it should be interesting.I think the chargers head coach saved his job again near the end of the year AGAIN.

With the Bengals I'd never thought I'd see the change but I think Marvin stays for sure. The Jets imploded with Ryan and injuries and I think a lack of discipline. He's too much like his dad.Colts are solid Tom Moore is really the coach but don't tell anyone.

The texans may surprise and go for a new BIGTIME head coach. With a qb like Shaub,I could see Shannihan taking over for his old time offensive coordinator. That would be wierd to say the least.Who knows???:D

I know ONE THING FOR SURE.The CARDINALS ARE SET at the head coaching position. They can even start the process of making a statue if they decide to pay him the money he deserves. He is the Landry of the ARIZONA CARDINALS.I'm so proud of him.He is so flexible yet with so much Character and in awesome defense of all of his players.Who would'nt want to play for him???:)

Buffalo - Marc Trestman

From the Montreal Alouettes to Buffalo, just like Coach Levy.

And, by the way, he is no joke. I've watched him for two years up here, and he is meticulously well prepared, and players enjoy playing for him.

well, it' almost December and if/when they collapse he'll be let go. If they go from 8-3 to not making the playoffs then he's definitely gone. I say he has to win a playoff game to be secure.

Youre right it completely slipped my aging mind.
There is a good article in the Buffalo News about Shanahan. Basically it says his price is too high and the money would well be spent on a lesser known coach an more talent on the field.
