I love Johnny Football more now than I ever have. I want there to be a Hard Knocks-style HBO reality show where Dockett teams up with Manziel to teach him the ropes of the NFL.

I thought he was Joe Namathish until this- you know where he thrives off the nightlife. I think this lost him the starting job, cause his lose his cool when the games count. His coach didn't need explain that and his performance.

After watching these first two preseason games, it's clear he should of been in the playbook instead of in Vegas. The middle finger, isn't so bad per se, but it does show he's letting people into his head. He has enough to worry about.

He's 14/27 for 128 yards. These numbers are horrible, especially when it's against 1's, 2's, and 3's. Especially horrible when these numbers are vastly inflated by some great YAC. He's literally playing like Captain Checkdown, and his average pass completion is really like 4-5 yards.

His running plays aren't good. When the defense vacated he runs like Peyton Manning can run. So he can get those 15 yard scrambles any QB can get.

When he tries to run, he is about successful as Peyton Manning would be if he tried to run around. He even chooses to run when there are wide open guys. He takes unnecessary hits, and with his frame he isn't going to last long.

What's worse is that other then that one possession at the 1, he's generally been aided by some great momentum and field position throughout preseason. Returns out to midfield and great defensive turnovers for great field position. Yet that's all he's done. When he's in the game they've also been aided by some nice runs. Manziel has been put in a situation to succeed, big time, and that's what he's done with it.

He doesn't have a strong arm, and the speed of the NFL is too fast for him so far, thus he can't throw downfield effectively or on time on a regular basis and has yet to do so at all.

Defenses are going to notice this and start scheming him for shorter throws and daring him to go deep on them, and that's when the defensive fun begins. Even yesterday they were jumping his routes, and he almost threw a couple of picks.

His 1 TD pass is really more like a glorified run.

He hasn't been able to beat out Brian Hoyer. We know Brian Hoyer. He isn't a good QB. He's a serviceable backup, not really anything more. He comes prepared, and is well schooled, but he's basically at his ceiling. He too doesn't have the tools, but he plays like a QB, and can run an offense. He beats out Johnny based on these factors because Johnny has no clue about them.

Shaw was their best QB last night, and he should be given some reps higher in the depth chart. He at least showed he can throw downfield. Right now he's their only hope at QB, and that's not good. Especially since it could turn out he can't play against the 1's either.

Last night was like watching a Cardinals game from a couple of seasons ago. Defense kept coming up with stops and great field position, and Hoyer and Manziel couldn't do anything with them.

Manziel is a project QB without great tools. He's not big, he's not fast, he isn't a natural QB, he doesn't have a strong arm, and has a propensity to make bad decisions. The flip off adds his head into the mix. Pettine should be more concerned about all the other deficiencies Manziel has shown.

Without a QB, this could get ugly in Cleveland. We'll see if any of this slightly upticks, but I don't see much more then that as a possibility. I'm sure at some point in the preseason he'll have a great play, but a single great play here or there isn't going to win in the NFL, especially if that's all there is.

who cares? oh no he flipped someone off! Was jake an eititled jackass when he flipped someone off?

I don't have a problem with someone flipping the bird.

However it shows that the Redskins bench got under his skin. If it's that easy to get into the head of a QB that's not a good sign.

Bingo

JFF is showing Matt Leinart qualities. He may have good physical talents, but he's too immature to be the leader of a franchise and is mentally weak.

I was listening to Wolfie today on 98.7 and he brought up a great point about this. He said Manziel doing this not only gave him a bigger target on his back for the defense to try and get to him to squish him, but it now made it harder for the O-line because all this D guys are going to try even HARDER now to get to him. Eventually, his guys that are supposed to be protecting him will get tired of his immature acts and "accidentally" let a guy like SUH through once. I made up the last part about SUH, but I can see it happening....

He's not my cup of tea from a personality standpoint and I never wanted to like him. But watching him last year he earned my respect. He's got good instincts and he's a gamer. May not have the greatest arm, but he extends plays and makes clutch completions. Time will tell if he's got the makings of an NFL QB

What's hilarious to me is Johnny needs an Arians type of HC and constant attention that folks like Moore are famous for. But Arians has clearly shown that he wants a giant, that sits in the pocket until all else is lost, he straight up wouldn't touch a midget headcase with all the talent in the world.

I agree. The guy can play and can make plays just when you think he is going to go down. He just needs to learn to control his temper and immature acts. Apparently, he has always been this way. His father was worried about how he will react to everything because at the age of 12 he would throw his golf clubs all over the place when he shot bad. Funny thing is, I was like that too! :pullhair:

I don't think that Wolfley is a reliable source in this case. For what it's worth, these guys are all professionals and are always more interested in keeping their jobs than making some kind of BS statement. I'm sure that maybe in a different time Wolfley would be making an accurate comment (although I doubt it). It's not like millions of dollars aren't incentive enough for defenders to try and get to the quarterback.

I do not know how Manziel is going to pan out for the Browns. I think he has the tools to succeed but his character is complete spoiled trash and if he does not get fined by the NFL for his gesture... something is wrong, because they would fine others and they need to tighten the reins on this spoiled brat before he goes a step further in his brash behavior

How can anyone look at this other than a foolish act by an immature brat. It was on national tv for Christ sakes. Think about all the kids watching him act like a damn fool. I don't care what they said to him he plays the most protected position in the nfl. I hope the nfl rains down hard on this jackass.

In the world of football, giving someone the finger hardly rises to the level of a misdemeaner. In the world of public relations for the NFL, the offense is probably more serious. As far as what is seen or heard by children over the airwaves, it doesn't warrant a moments notice, unfortunately.

Some seem more upset by this than Rice punching out his future wife.

Really? Who? Public outrage got the NFL to stiffen their penalties and has even caused ESPN to ban any of their talent from discussing the issue due to the negative response.

This isn't even remotely as bad and is a completely unrelated topic.
