Would you at this point?

But even earlier in the preseason, when Leinart was being raked over the coals by the media, there wasn't anyone really who had his back.

Sando also has an article up criticising Leinart's attitude thought it's mucher "nicer".

Great read, thanks. I really think Leinart's days in this league are numbered. He may latch on somewhere as a backup, but I don't think he will ever be a legitimate starter in the NFL. Just like every other job in the world your reputation follows you. I think he has a pretty bad rep in the league and he will have to work damn hard to erase that.

I hate to compare him to Ryan Leaf, because I think he is better than that but there seems to be the same type of entitlement between the two, at least as football players. It also sounds as if ML is arrogant and petty. Too bad, because he has the talent. I wish him well, but I just got this feeling that he's going to an analyst College Game Day or some college football show in the not too distant future.

Matt made over $17 mil while a Cardinal. Don't think he's "hurting" that much. He will hang around as a back up for as long as he wants to but that's about it for him I think. Wish him the best of luck but it was time to go.

DA will be DA, which means not too good and Max Hall will be a rookie if he gets in this season. Don't know if Max will be the real deal or not but he showed enough to deserve the back up job over Matt.

Go Cards!

Now that is some insight. Rip on Cole if you want, but Pro sports is one big "good ole boy's club". Players and coaches cover for each other, unless it is anonymous. I remember Matt as the guy who had the NFL drooling for him , but he opted to stay an extra year at USC and party down. Not exactly a desire or commitment to be an NFL QB.

Maybe if fans wouldn't fall head over heels in love with athletes, their exposure wouldn't be so rough.

This article is more of a compliment to Kurt Warner, than a slam on Matt. Leinart may not get a job, until some other QB has a season ending injury.

Sad to see the front office didn't see Matt's down side before drafting him

Everyone trashes Cole whenever he writes something, so why take this one seriously. He could be completely correct lets just be consistent.

:yeahthat:

Cole has had some of the worst articles about the Cardinals...I just can't believe anything he writes after some of the garbage I've seen.

Not to say I'm pro-Leinart or anything, he obviously did something wrong to let go...but I won't take Cole's word for why.

Cole quotes two unidentified Cardinal players and an unidentified NE coach as making critical comments about Leinart.

All three comments may provide colorful insight as to what the deal may have been with Leinart. But none of these comments can be believed on face-value because the sources go unnamed.

For media people to kick Leinart when he's down is a pretty easy thing to do (i.e. "The new guy, he good/the old guy he bad").

Obviously, there has to be an underlying story about Leinart's rise and ultimate demise as a Cardinal (not that, from a media standpoint, it's any less of a cliche than "rags to riches"; in this case "it's dude has it too easy and falls prey to fame & fortune").

I'd love to know what the whole story turns out to be - but with credible writing from credible writers based on identified sources.

(Hey unidentified Cardinal players and NE coaches - man-up and identify yourselves if you have anything negative to say about Leinart).

Last word, though, is "Leinart gone. Anderson here. Hall here. Onward. Season starts next Sunday."

I mostly agree but has anyone noticed that the time between our final preseason game and our first regular season game seems to move at one quarter speed. The wait has already seemed interminable and we still have a week to go.

Here is a classic pro-Leinart column from the pre-2006 draft. This was written by a respected NT sportswriter. It just goes to show how little the media knows.
