What is our top team need overall in the offseason? In need, I mean a person that can instantly upgrade us at that position from day 1.

Edit: I vote DE...and I do mean a pass-rusher extraordinaire!!!

I say we need to sign a DL/DE and a CB. Sign DT Robaire Smith and CB Byant or CB Winfield. and draft the BPA in the 1st round or even trade down and draft defense all the way.

Although I'm a huge advocate of the pass rush being the lynch-pin in the defense, I think our most glaring need -- as far as talented bodies -- is at corner.

At defensive end we have guys that can play the position fair enough, but we don't have that at CB. So, if we were only to add to one position in the off-season it would need to be at CB, IMO. But, we don't have that luxury. In order for the defense to be successful, we'll need to add a quality CBs in FA and in the draft, and get an edge pass rusher in FA.

I'd say CB, but to me it's not so much positional as it is we just need "playmakers", guys who can score TD's on their own, guys who can go up and pick off a well thrown ball, guys who can beat a good OT and get a sack, guys who can make plays on their own now and then . Difference makers.

So to me
Each pick should be
A player who can fill that
Need in a way for this
Team
A guy who
You can count on when you are
Losing to make
One big play that totally
Reverses momentum.

See, I thought we needed a guy who could:

Be the future of the Cardinals
Energize the offense
Negate and overcome obstacles

I agree but who has time to come up with enough words for Roethlisberger?

As always, if Ben is there, take him, if not take Taylor.

I'm still waiting for us to replace Swann. We need a passrush up the middle.

We may have to wait for another decade till another Swann lands on the Cards. :(

Unless you can generate pass rush with a 10 sack man you can have 2 excellent CBs and it won't matter.
Most sacks are not coverage sacks. In fact a coverage sack can be easily avoided these days with QBs being able to run or throw the ball away or even release it to a safety valve reciever. You can sign McAllister and Bailey if you have 2 sack men rushing the passer they will throw all day to RB/FB, #3 and #4 WRs and TEs.

Cryptically clever. Sean Taylor

Definitely not Iambic pentameter. Are you the guy in the stands who has the poster board and uses his message to spell E S P N to get on camera?

DT- I believe that the defense revolves around your guys in the middle.... Unfortunately, DT probably has the slimmest pickings this year of any position...
