Shawn's a great player and probably in the top 5 in every stat category for the Suns all time, but at this point I'd rather stick with Shaq.

Shouldn't Hill or Barnes be capable of slowing down players like Roy BTW? I didn't see the game but those two are our best wing defenders.

If we still had Singletary he could pick up small point guards that give Nash trouble. Another thing, didn't Dragic have a reputation for being a good defender?

Well Hill did slow down the bigger name in Anthony in the Denver game, which Marion never could.

did Hill slow him down or did injury slow him down considering just after that game they announced that he was injured and would be on the shelf for at least 3 games?

Especially since we would have to take Banks as well.

Our problem isn't the Shaq for Marion tade..

1. In hindsight signing a star like Nash that overshadowed Amare as the face of the franchise and leader probably slowing Amare's development as a team leader. We could have used the money for Nash and QRich to sign just Camby and save the rest to extend Joe Johnson and make our #7 draftpick (Iguodala, Deng, Josh Smith) and trade Marion for quality role players or trade up 2-3 spots for Devin Harris.
We had all of them in for workouts, Josh Smith and Iguodala even twice.

2. Trading QRich, Nate Robinson and a draftpick for Kurt Thomas and then trading Kurt Thomas and 2 picks for nothing.

3. Selling Rajon Rondo to save a couple of millions of Brian Grant because D'Antoni didn't like Rondo.

4. Selling Rodrigues and Fernandez because D'Antoni didn't like them.

Colangelo and D'antoni didn't have enough patience to build a team around Amare, instead they just got quick fixes and veterans for fast success and a quick shot at a championship.

One could say that the signing of Q-Richardson cost us Joe Johnson's extension, the #7 pick, Nate Robinson and at least 2 more draftpicks.

Wow. I wonder where we are without the Nash Era. Only thing is, Amare went down with surgery so we would have been like the Kings when Webber went down. Who knows..I like the Nash signing. 2, 3, and 4 make me wanna puke. Serious.

...Zarko would've been something special had it not've been for Danny Fortson.

I agree. I remember when he went down, I thought it was a shame. He was doing good around that time. I had high hopes for him also. Crazy to think how easy it is to lose your spot on a NBA team. One minute you are in, next you are out. Another example would be Dragic.

Go Suns!

There is NO hating on Marion from my side. Absolutely NOT! Just to make my point clear.

According to his performance of this season, among centers, 3rd in scoring and 7th in rebounding, Shaq is still in top 10, if not top 5. Meanwhile, u can easily find 10 or even 15 SFs better than Marion. And, Marion makes almost as much as Shaq, $17,810,000. Such a swap doesn't make even the least benefit for the Suns either basketball wise, or financial wise.

Such suggestion is extremely disrespect to Barnes and Hill. They r both excellent players doing a good job for this team. Both of them r good defenders, not up to Marion's standard, but not far behind either.

comparing stats among only centers can be very deceptive in today's n.b.a. there are just so many guys who are really centers but play PF anyway. Duncan would be one of them. Then there are a bunch of guys who really could play center as easily as PF, but don't. For example, garnett, gasol, okafor, etc. If you did a comparison of PF's and Centers combined and then compared shaq to that group, you'd probably get a better idea of where he is compared to other players in the league.

I just said "top 10", I think it's fair enough. We need Shaq, or should I say, Amare needs Shaq, just like Duncan needs Oberto/Kurt Thomas, Gasol needs Bynum, Boozer need Okur, etc.

Shaq is doing fine, we r happy about his performance this season, arn't we? We certainly don't want to go back to Amare at center, while Lopez is still far from dependable. And, Barnes and Hill r doing great, we have no intention to lose either of them. What's the point after all?

i never argued that he wasn't a top 10 center. i'm just saying that almost all of the dominant big men in the game today are playing PF, not center. shaq is having a good year, sure. i never argued with that either.

In the past, the Suns had trouble with low post threats, guys attacking the basket, and long range shooters. By trading Marion for Shaq, the Suns can now deal with the low post threats without double teams which in theory should make it easier to defend the wing. Marion was used against guys going to the basket, but the plan was to go under the picks and hope his height would be enough. Sometimes yes and sometimes no.

Parker gets away with carrying the ball in the lane so he's very hard to stop if he gets loose. Lopez might be useful as a shot blocker, but he's still too inexperienced. Unless Brown shows some promise, it looks like the Suns will have to rely on the same strategy using Hill rather than Marion, but it relys on Parker missing those open mid range shots.

In a van...down by the river.
In reference to defending Parker/Ginobli its a sound stategy to focus on stopping the ball in transistion. There's my "Mr Obvious" 2 cents on getting a win tomorrow.
