I voted for the Niners. but, our draft is strong enough to hold them off.

I think the whole division did well. It won't be long before the NFC West is not the laughingstock it was last year.

9ers, Lambs and SeaHags still have QB issues to solve over the next 2-3 years...

One of the networkls pr-draft scuttlebut was that the Rams were considering moving up for Maualuga, if available. Then when he was there, they took Laurantiis. I would have broken things if I was a Ram fan there. Maualuga is so good, and Lauranitis will bust IMO. The Rams will regret that.

What's scary is that the only time in the last 20 years the Rams haven't been a joke, is when they had Kurt. Let's hope we don't go back to that after Kurt is gone.

I think Crabtree is a good fit for their offense-- a sure handed possesion receiver. Hill isnt really a down the field passer, so having a guy who can run solid 12 yard dig routes and catch them will help. BTW- I dont think the comparisons to Fitz are appropriate -- Crabree has neither Fitz's size or hops-- so his down the field game will be limited.

Trading away a high second for a first next year basically tells your fans "we dont feel like we need to win this year" -- or perhaps--"we did this to have the ammo to ensure we get Sam Bradford next year". I think you do stuff like that when you have a roster like the Pats where your 2nd round guy might not play for two years. In contrast -- you dont think the 49ers could have used a guy like Clint Sintim, Connor Barwin or Everette Brown this year?

Finally -- Glenn Coffee in the third? For a team with such Safety issues, thank goodness for the Cards that they passed on Coffee's Bama teammate - Rashad Johnson.

Seattle added Curry, but if they end up losing both Peterson and Hill then their draft pretty much sucked.

I agree that SF is stockpiling picks to go after a QB next season. If they don't then they better hope they don't use those high picks on another Rashaun Woods or Vernon Davis.

I saw a fromer NFL cornerback analyzing Crabtree on ESPN one night and he wasn't as hyped about him as some people are.

He said that he thinks Crabtree may have trouble getting off the line of scrimmage in the NFL.

First he doesn't have elite speed so corners are more likely to press him.

Second he is able to get free in college because he is able to simply thow most corners aside using his superior size and strength. He said that just won't work with NFL corners because most are also very strong and have great technique and simply won't allow Crabtree to just throw them aside when trying to get off the line.

I wish I could remember who the ex-NFL corner was who analyzed Crabtree but I can't. He just felt that Crabtree would have some trouble in the NFL.

I hope hes right.

The Seachickens get Curry and have a great draft throughout, but what really separated them is the 1st rounder of Denver's next year. The Denver pick is going to be a Top 10 pick.

The 49ers grab Crabtree who I thought was top 3 in this draft and followed it up with Carolina's 1st round pick next year.

NFC West really improved their star power with Smith (STL), Curry (SEA), Crabtree (SF), and Wells. Crabtree's value, even though I like his talent, will be determined by how good the SF QB will be.

I dont think it matters much. Honestly, neither Hill or Smith are world beaters. That in itself is why I am not worried about SF this year.

Agreed! Hill>Smith, but needs alot of work on arm strength. He's accurate on short passes and $ in clutch situations tho. If he's willing to strengthen his arm he really could be a great QB.

I think Seattles draft was terrible.

First I think Curry is good but with the lose of Peterson and the fact that Hill will likely be gone they are spinning their wheels and are no better off than when they started.

I like Unger too but is he going to be able to step in and play right now? It can take a while with offensive lineman.

Butler has speed but is only 180 lbs. and got manhandled by better corners and is seen as a developmental project. It will be a challenge for him in the NFL.

Teel, a quarterback, what are they doing drafting a quarterback? One analysis I saw of Teel went like this: Panics under pressure and shows little poise in the pocket. Stares down receivers and telegraphs throws. Looks like a staue in the pocket and has marginal foot quickness and mobility to improvise. To often throws the ball up for grabs and expects his receivers to make a play. Plays to recklessly. Overly emotional.

Greene is a nice pick for where they got him. Good value.

Reed is also good value for a 7th rounder.

Morrah can catch but can't block.

As far as next years #1 thats fine if you don't have a lot of holes to fill right now. Seattle isn't in that position. It's all about what have you done for me lately.

Seattle won 4 games last season, 4 games! How many starters did they come away with. Curry will start and maybe Unger but thats it.

I'm sorry but if my team wins 4 games and drafts high I want 4-5 guys starting or competing for a starting spot. They need starters right now, not developmental guys.

That pick of Teel who like to throw it up to receivers and hope they can make a play goes really well with with a 5'10" 180 lb. receiver who is a bit of a developmental project and gets pushed around.

Thats the future?

Agreed, and next years QB class looks to be a pretty good one. Look for whoever winds up sucking the most among these three teams to solve that problem next year. My bet is on my Rams.
Best draft this year? I voted Cardinals because they picked up a potential stud in Wells with their late 1st, and had a consistent, focused day 2. Rams had a great day 1 but faltered on day 2.
Crabtree was a nice pick but when are the Niners going to address the trenches?

I agree. They added the best player in this draft, a top notch lineman, and a 1st round pick next year.
