Everyone else started off strong, particularly SF, but i think we had a better 2nd day.

If i had to pick a runner up, itd be SF.

Grats on the 49ers getting Michael Crabtree. Enjoy being the 2003 Arizona Cardinals.

I voted for the Cards. We filled in all the position of needs with great players.

I really hope Crabtree ends up being another Peter Warrick

SF had a great draft. Crabtree dropping to them was a nice pick up, getting a first next year from Carolina to move up in the second was a fantastic deal for them. I liked Coffee in the third-great value there. I even liked that they took Nate Davis to groom for the future.

To get Francois in the seventh was a steal!

They had the best draft in the NFC west and maybe the NFL

SF. Crabtree will be the best receiver since Fitzgerald.

i'd be willing to bet Nate Davis can't spell groom or future.

I dont know about that, and last I heard you didnt need to be a great speller to play QB in the NFL. :)

Seriously, what this does is allow Hill and Smith battle for the #1 position in TC and the loser being released and Davis taking over #2. I dont know if Davis is the long term answer, but I like the way they are thinking considering the two avergae-at-best QB's they have now.

I would be very very happy if the 9ers make Nate Davis there #2 QB this year. That would be fantastic.

Tough call.

Niners had a good draft.

When it comes to how well each player fits into the role they were drafted for ???

Then the Cardinals had the best draft.

It is a toss up between the Cardinals and Niners.

And that is not to say that I didn't like the Hawks, or Rams drafts as well.

I think the division as a whole did a good job.

I voted for the Niners. but, our draft is strong enough to hold them off.

I think the whole division did well. It won't be long before the NFC West is not the laughingstock it was last year.

I don’t think any of them had any brain farts, but I do think some clearly did better then others. Hard to judge the 4th to 7th rounder’s really so I will keep it to the top 3 rounds of picks.

Rams – I just think Jason Smith is so overrated, I don’t think he will ever be great and will only ever be above average. Laurinitis should be a sold defender, at the least I think he will be consistent for them which would be new to their Defense. They got a tall CB in the 3rd to help match up with the tall receivers of the NFC West. Although all were needs they just might have the worst WR core in the league right now and the draft didn’t help that, you cant fill all of your needs though. Nothing that makes you go wow but overall solid.

49ers – First they now have two picks in 2010 in the 1st round. Pretty good get for what should be a much better draft at the top then this years draft. First I think they missed out on a huge need by not getting a single Olinemen in the draft. May have been their biggest weakness and it still is a huge problem. I think Coffee and his inside running goes well with Gores skill set. Crabtree is a natural, but will the his QB have any time to throw it to him and who will that QB be.

Seahawks – Just like the Niners they will have two 2010 picks in the first round. They hope to re-sign Lucas because they left the draft without their biggest need by far. I think Curry has great straight line speed but out him in a phone booth and in the mix and he just doesn’t have any quickness. If they use him 6 yards off the line of scrimmage he should do very well allowing him to diagnose then engage, not mix it up near the line of scrimmage like Peterson did. Unger is a very good get that can help at any spot on the OL. The WR Butler is a project but give them speed in the future.

If I had to rank them –

1. Cardinals – For the simple reason we had fewer holes to fill, and will be spending far less money on our picks now and in the future to help with re-signing guys or signing FA’s in future years. I think we got solid picks top to bottom.
2. Seahawks – I put them higher then the Rams because of getting the extra 1st and I like Unger.
3. 49ers – In terms of who they got I think the Rams did better but that 2010 extra 1st rounder gives them a slight nudge.
4. Rams – Not because they did bad, its just that those extra 1st rounder’s the hawks and 49ers got were very solid and savvy moves.

I dont think it matters much. Honestly, neither Hill or Smith are world beaters. That in itself is why I am not worried about SF this year.

I agree, but both of those dopes were able to drive the length of the field at the end of the game vs the Cards recently. According, bring on Nate Davis.

Close call between AZ and SF. If we are factoring in the picks that they gained in the trades SF wins IMO. Getting a first for the 10th pick in the 2nd is always a steal in the long run. If we are just basing it on the players then we win.

Overall the NFC West had the best draft of each division IMO.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Nate Davis has a learning disability related to dsylexia - which impairs his reading comprehension as well as the ability to express himself through writing. He's primarily a visual learner so I'm amazed at what he's been able to accomplish. My hat's off to the 49ers for giving him an opportunity to play in the NFL when most teams dropped him from their board.

Oops. Didn't know that. Still don't think he is any good.
