Disgraced former NBA referee Tim Donaghy is back behind bars after he was accused of violating probation by not showing up for work.

Donaghy was being held without bond Tuesday, a day after his arrest. Deputy U.S. Marshal Ron Lindbak says Donaghy wasn't at work when he was supposed to be, but Lindback didn't know further details.

Donaghy's attorney didn't immediately return phone messages.

Donaghy was given a 15-month sentence last year after he said he took money from a professional gambler in exchange for inside tips on games — including games he worked. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to engage in wire fraud and transmitting betting information through interstate commerce.

In June it was reported that Donaghy had been attacked in prison by a fellow inmate who claimed he had ties to the New York mob. The attacker hit Donaghy in the right knee with a stick or club last November, Pat Zaranek of Executive Prison Consultants told USA Today.

"Verbally, there was a comment made that they were going to shoot him in the head and break his kneecaps," Zaranek said.

The attack left Donaghy with chronic pain in his knee and in need of surgery, Zaranek said.

Donaghy was moved to a halfway house this year after serving part his sentence in a federal prison camp. He was scheduled for release in October.

I am hoping he gets a DUI in Maricopa County sometime in the future and gets to visit tent city!

By New York Mob, do you think he meant "NBA League office"?
