After a hard fought regular season, the OWHL playoffs are finally here. Sixteen teams are set to battle in a best-of-five series, with action beginning tonight.

Opening Night Action

Kicking things off, the Stoney Creek Sabres take on the Cambridge Rivulettes, while the Whitby Wolves face off against the Waterloo Ravens. Waterloo edged Whitby 2-1, while Stoney Creek beat Cambridge 6-0.

The action picks up even more tonight, with the Central York Panthers meeting the Kingston Ice Wolves, the Burlington Barracudas going head-to-head with the Ottawa Lady Senators, and the London Devilettes battling the Etobicoke Dolphins. Meanwhile, the Toronto Aeros take on the Windsor Southwest Wildcats, the Toronto Leaside Wildcats square off against the Mississauga Hurricanes, and the Durham West Lightning clash with the Oakville Hornets. Rounding out the first-round matchups, the Barrie Sharks will face the Nepean Wildcats.

Players to Watch

The Etobicoke Dolphins boast a number of offensive threats, so it’s difficult to narrow down just a few. Rylan Haslam (68 points), Emma Beauchamp (59 points), and Sofia Ismael (57 points) have all been driving forces behind their team's success this season. Stoney Creek’s attack is just as formidable, led by Sophia Chard (63 points) and Mikayla Barnes (58 points), both capable of taking over a game. Central York’s Cheyenne Degeer (65 points) has been a dominant offensive presence all season, can play in all situations on both sides of the puck, and will be a key player to watch. Meanwhile, Ottawa’s Brooke Mulvihill (44 points) has been a consistent contributor and a leader on the team, while goaltender Dominique Rioux (13-8-0, .934 SV%, 1.83 GAA) has the ability to steal games and make it look easy at the same time. Kingston’s Aneta Senkova (13-12-0, .924 SV%, 2.25 GAA) has also been a rock in net and could be a difference-maker.

With every team fighting to keep their season alive, expect high-intensity battles, standout performances, and no shortage of drama as the OWHL postseason gets underway.
