I'm sort of doubting the veracity of this story. Would love it if someone posted a more credible source.

Because it appears the Pac-10, which has its meetings in San Francisco starting this weekend, is prepared to make a bold move and invite Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado to join its league, according to multiple sources close to the situation.

Left out would be Iowa State, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska and Missouri.

Have a feeling that the West/East teams will play eachother a little more frequently. Obviously a majority of our conference games will be regional, but I could see us getting 2 games against West region teams instead of 1 + UofA.

Don't all schools have 12 games now? you only have 11 on the schedule.

There would probably be another school added in from the other Pac 10 conference. May as well throw in USC into one of those years and go for the "most murderous schedule ever" trophy.

See Lisa Love news conference video link below about the addition of Colorado to the Pac 10. It sounds like a 16 team conference may well be in the works. I don't like the idea of ASU and U of A being in the rumored east part of the conference. I'm afraid the Arizona teams are not ready to compete at this level especially in football if this occurs.

Before ASU moved to the Pac they used to struggle to beat Oregon State, when OSU was not that great. A lot of people thought ASU would become the doormat of the Pac. Why does nobody believe that ASU and Tucson U can't rise to the level?

I read somewhere a primary reason Nebraska is joining The Big Ten is to avoid the dominance of Texas not to mention Oklahoma. If ASU has trouble getting to the Rose Bowl with frequency, it is going to be even harder to get out of the proposed East division of the Pac-Ten. I'm not saying it can't be done but ASU and U of A will have some rough going. However, I will like the added attraction of the competition. It's hard to believe that a long, long time ago that the Fiesta Bowl was essentially created to give ASU a better chance to go to a bowl game.

FYI, if a 16-team Pac eschews a championship game and instead lands two BCS bids, ASU's relationship to the Rose Bowl could end.

The Pacs relationship to the Rose Bowl has been an abomination every since the BCS was created.

Would ASU always be a doormat? Don’t know but I think initially, ASU and U of A would be the Baylors of the division and here is why I think this to be true and the hole dug for them would be very formidable to climb out of:

The college athletics world, as you know, spins around recruiting. For ASu, California and texas are the closest deep pools to swim in. Now the problems occur:

CA Recruiting – I think ASU has made some inroads into California but if you are a California recruit, which division would you prefer to play in? The division that brings you home a lot more or that other division with the Texas/Oklahoma schools and Baylor Light/Baylor West? Me thinks it more likely that California/Oregon/Washington schools get the first crack with ASU/U of A picking over the scraps.

TX recruiting – the situation is more bleak for ASU in TX as most Texas kids dream of playing in Austin or for A&M. Texas Tech gets some decent leftovers. Texas kids will still hit the OK schools and SEC schools before opting for the Arizona schools. Once again…Arizona schools are picking over the carcass looking for a few morsels.

I think if this all comes to pass, ASU and U of A are in trouble

So should the AZ schools fight against expansion? Should they jump ship and re-join the WAC? You don't turn down the biggest promotion of your life because you might fail. Well, maybe if you're from France.

LOL. Even if UA/ASU weren't in favor, you're right. They would have no choice but to go along, or join Boise in the Mountain West. That said, I think both schools are in favor of expansion.

I've heard estimates that a new PAC-10 TV deal could bring each school $25 million-a-year. UA/ASU will need to re-invest a lot of that money into their football programs.

That's what expansion does, it challenges everyone to get better.

I don't get all these fans who don't want the expansion because they are afraid of playing OU and UT every year? What a chickensh!t way to think.

Everyone realizes with an extra ten million in revenue a year, the cache of both coaching and recruiting in the BEST conference in the nation, and the overall reward of our own TV station would cause the football program to grow at both schools, right?

And I am delerious to even imagine UA basketball getting more money, more exposure, and better recruits across the midwest for being the class program in basketball (EAST) of this new super conference. Tesas has had a better past 5 years but UA is on its way back and this expansion is only going to help.

That will become a pretty sweet rivalry in basketball for the cats and baseball for the Sun Devils with the Longhorns. And everyone gets more exposure playing Texas in football every year. Just like how in the Pac its monumental when you beat SC and can propel you into a better season.

UA has never been to the Rose Bowl in the Pac-10. Now the expections and revenue go up, so thats more then likely going to help then hurt. ASU wasn't ever SC in the Pac10 either so pretty much both teams are going to assume their mediocre to good 3-6 standings year after year anyway with the occasional good year and occasional bad year.

And Mack Brown and Bob Stoops aren't going to be there respective schools forever. Don't forget Mackovic was at UT before Brown and whomever the hell was at OU prior to Stoops. Oh wait I already have.

This is taking your favorite school, putting it in the BEST conference in the nation, giving it a foothold in its second biggest recruiting area, and getting them new good rivalries to build and their own conference super channel. Oh and a ton more money to rebuild both athletic departments.

This an absolute no brainer.

The problem as I view it, the Pac-Ten and Lisa Love are seeing dollar signs first. Financially this will greatly benefit both ASU and UA. However, it may also put the two schools as doormats for years to come in football. When the Sun Devils went to the Pac Ten from the WAC, I thought this is where ASU belonged because they dominated in football in that conference. Now ASU and UA going to the rumored East eight in the Pac Ten is even a bigger chunk to bite. I guess I will just hope the Sun Devils will rise to the top because this is the best and only option for them. Super conferences seems to be the new direction in college football so I will try to embrace it. I really like the addition of Colorado.

What's "chickensh!t" is how little ASU fans donate to the program, which is why I think logical people have misgivings about this expansion. It's do or die now. If ASU fans as a group think ASU should compete with Texas and Oklahoma, they better start emptying their wallets like Texas and Oklahoma fans do.

Or ASU will just sink to the bottom.

Period.

Colorado in the PAC 10?!? CU doesn't even have a baseball or softball team and this season was the first time since 2006 they didn't finish last in the Big XII in basketball. Their volleyball team lost every conference match last season except the two vs Texas Tech. And they also have no swim teams. Those are big time sports in the PAC 10.

Then again maybe that's what made CU so attractive to the Pac 10 schools. ;)

I do like the idea of a possible double header weekend every year if UT joins. Texas v ASU on Saturday, Cards on Sunday. Sweet!
