Check the stats. Pace was better than both of them. I am sure Dansby may have had the best stats had he played the whole year, but he didn't. If anything, that should say more about Pace being able to stay healthy for 16 games.

I love how everyone calls Pace a contract player yet no one mentions that Dansby didn't even work out in the offseason until last year.

Considering the numbers Dansby was putting up every year maybe the Cards should have had more players not working out in the off season. :D

I'm disappointed that the Cards lost Pace because they'd just started to play a defense where Calvin could excel. But Dansby has been money every year and was just as great at OLB as he was playing inside and deserves every penny of his $8million.

Calvin Pasce came into his own last year and I for one have no doubt that he'll continue to blossum.....having said this, I would not have wanted him for this kind of scratch.

Let see...we lose Pace and BJ this year in FA. Depending on who we might get, next year will give us some decent compensatory picks to be sure.

Ugh, I knew this would happen. Players get their value inflated on the FA market.

I wish all the best to Pace. But no way can I justify the Cards paying close to that number for a guy who who has had one good year.

But, I wouldn't bat an eye lid if we pony up this type of scratch for Karlos Dansby. The guy has done nothing but produce.

OK bring out another line of BS please. You never showed me he wasn't because he was. Go make up stories with someone else please. Pace had the same amount of tackles as Hayes, but more sacks and FR. He had more tackles, sacks and FRs than Dansby but 2 less FF.

Gotta say, All three were good, but the argument here, is HAyes is a vocal leader on the team, had more solo tackles, less sacks, but DID have a better Interception return-yard average...

Also scored a TD....

The only thing that Pace did better than Dansby and Hayes was sacks and TFL... and even that wasn't by much....

Oh Pace can play 16 games ...... if he stays away from windows during the season. :D

CFM, Pace is a solid LB, and showed a lot of promise but he is not worth the money the Jets gave him, at least IMO. And the Cardinals have to let some guys go. We can't sign them all to huge contracts.

Just in case you forgot. You saying look at the stats does not back your case. Because the stats shows the contrary with Dansby and a push with Hayes at best.

Good for Calvin Pace. He was right to test the market. If he really was about to blossom into a star OLB, we'll miss him.

As for the Jets? This is a very big gamble.

No kidding. But just look at what happened with Kyle V. We hated him here, and now he is an ALL-PRO.

BOBCAT

I remember almost everybody loved KVB while he was in AZ. We hated that he was hurt all the time. There used to be hundreds of KVB jerseys in the stands at SDS.

To begin with, your stats are wrong.

I am not here to fight with you. I have one point of view and you have another. IMO Pace was better than Hayes or Dansby. I factor in that Pace played all 16 games as plus for him and a minus for Dansby. For some strange reason I think most coaches like guys who play all 16 games. Had Dansby played all 16 I am sure he would have clearly better stats but he didn't so he doesn't. Dansby has more picks, because his position requires him to drop back into coverage more than the other two. Pace had more sacks and TCKFL because he plays SSOLB. Its not apples to oranges, but more like tangerines to clementimes.

I dont think anyone thinks he is worth the money the Jets gave him. That is a big contract. However, it wouldnt have taken that type of contract to secure Pace prior to FA.

The Cards didnt want him. No matter how much smoke Graves blows up our collective asses, I can tell you a contract offer wasnt made since late Nov/early Dec and since then only the slightest of talks occurred between Pace's agent (Pat Dye) and Graves.

Now,if Whiz and Graves didnt think he was worth resigning, that is one thing that we can judge in the upcoming season and I can live with that. (assuming they are proven right) But it wasnt a matter of Pace not wanting to be in AZ. He did, and it would have taken a lot less money then the Jets offered to keep him.

ESPN.com has learned that Pace on Monday afternoon reached an agreement with the New York Jets on a six-year, $42 million contract. The deal, negotiated by agent Pat Dye Jr. and his associates at Atlanta-based ProFiles Sports Management, includes a signing bonus of $20 million and $22 million in total guarantees.

The contract, which makes Pace one of the highest paid linebackers in NFL history, will pay out $26 million in its first three years.

Bingo! Pace played well last year but I think he isn't really what Whiz envisions at the OLB/DE position. I think they want a more straight ahead speed pass rusher. I think if they get the guys they want we will see the all out jail break blitzes that the Steelers used to employ.

The problem is were going to have to shore up the cornerback position if we want to put that aggressive pressuring defense to use. I expect the Cards to address that in a big way in the draft. We shall see.

Talk about revisionist BS.

Nobody here hated KVB, just the reverse in fact. The only reason he was let go was that he couldn't stay healthy.

That he has managed to do so since leaving is good for him but says nothing about his play. While he was here he was pretty good ... when healthy enough to play.
