Mega fight this weekend fellas, who ya got?

I'm rooting Pac but I'm super torn on who I actually think will win. I keep going back and forth. This is such a tough one to pick. Have Manny and Roach finally gone too far up the ladder? Is Cotto on a slippery-slope decline? Will Pac be able to withstand the powerful shots to the body that Cotto loves to throw? Will coming down to 145 have any effect on Miguel?

Right now I am giving a slight edge to Manny being that I think he is at the apex of his peak right now and Roach will have his usual superb game plan in place. I want to wait to see how Cotto looks at the weigh in on Friday before I make an official pick though. If he looks all dried out like DLH did I'm definitely going Manny but I don't think that is going to be the case. This is truly a toss up.

What do you guys think?

This is gonna be an awesome fight. I don't mind who wins because I like both fighters but in reality I don't really see a way Pacquiao loses. It is gonna be a slug fest which will be real entertaining. I know I'll be watching Saturday.

Betting odds on Pacman by decision is unbelievable. I got +350. Cotto has a granite chin and is as tough as nails. Too big and too much heart to get KO. Pacman wins on number of punches.

Wow... gonna be a great one. Hard to imagine Manny getting beat. Cotto is so tough and of course, his only loss came Margarito who had padded his gloves.
Cotto beat Mosely who then went on to destroy Margarito...

Cotto is a naturally bigger and stronger man... as was DelaHoya who Manny dismantled...

If Cotto were to beat Manny, I can't say I would be surprised as Cotto is in the top tier of the pound for pound ratings...

Gonna be a great one!

After watching 24/7 I'm rooting for cotto. Roach just came off like too much of a d-bag.

I have had the pleasure to meet Freddie Roach and he is anything but a d-bag. He is supremely confident which can been seen as cockiness. This will be one hell of a fight.

That's good to hear that he isn't really a jerk.

I just thought he should have kept quiet about cotto's trainer and his experience, or lack there of.

If cotto is still in his prime, this will be great.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Freddie last year at the Pacquiao-De la Hoya fight and I can also attest that he is very, very cool and down to earth. He talks a lot of crap during the build up of a fight for a couple reasons: 1) To try to sell it a bit since his fighter never says anything negative or disrespectful about his opponent and 2) to try to get in the heads of the oppossing fighter and team members ala Phil Jackson. Hey it's worked for him to this point on both accounts.

As for the fight I gotta admit Cotto looked pretty damn strong at the weigh in yesterday. He looks nothing like the weight drained De la Hoya did for his fight with Manny. PacMan is in for a helacious battle tonite!

I'm still sticking with my boy though, I just can't bring myself to pick against him. I see Pacquiao eeking out a SD win and completing the remarkable feat of being the 1st person in history to win titles in 7 different divisions.

Enjoy the fight guys!

D, are you there?

I rewatched the Cotto-Margarito, Cotto-Mosely and Mosely-Margarito fights this morning...
Still can't believe how Cotto hung in there against Margarito when he was facing a man with plaster wrapped fists! He hit Antonio with some amazing shots that most of the time take down any other opponent. But Margarito jsut walked right thru them all.
Then, against Mosely when his plaster wraps were discovered, he was not nearly as strong (mentally and physically) as we was against Cotto... Shane beat the crap out of Margarito...Yet, Mosely couldn't even come close to that sort of damage against Cotto. Cotto put on a great boxing exhibition against Shane that night...

Manny and Miguel are both in their prime. They have both been thru wars as well, yet perhaps Manny more than Miguel, seems the fresher at this stage. Maybe that Margarito fight took something - permanently, away from Cotto. That would be a shame as it was totally illegal! I'd love to see Cotto go up against Margarito again and kick the living crap out of him!

If Cotto is able to get over that Margarito loss, and show the speed, power and superior boxing skills he had prior to the Margarito loss, Manny could be in for a shocker... Unlike DelaHoya and Hatton, Cotto is in his prime and is a far superior boxer than Oscar was when he fought Manny, and more than Hatton ever was! Also, Cotto is very, very strong! I don't think Manny has ever felt power like he will feel tonight.

Anyway.... should be a great one! D, if you and ZO are there... I HATE you guys! :D

Shoot I wish I was there 82. Unfortuantely I'm here in the dreary valley and gonna have the fellas over to watch. HD is as close as I'll get to Vegas for this one :D

I can't argue with one thing you said man. Watching Cotto handle the speed of Mosley and Judah, and then the size and strength of guys like Margo (until the plaster kicked in) and Clottey would make you think that Cotto is going to kill Pac. I just fear that the Plaster-ito beating did take something from Miguel weither it be physical, mental or both and he just has not looked like the same guy in his last two fights. If it is mental he may be able to overcome that and get back to where he was beforehand. However if it is physical his best days are behind him and he could be going downhill quickly. Regardless he is one tough hombre and has the heart of a lion. This is going to be an awesome fight!!

Pacquiao batters Cotto for TKO win
http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news?slug=ki-pacmanwins111409&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Manny Pacquiao staked his claim atop boxing’s mythical throne as the pound-for-pound best, using his lightning hand speed to beat and batter Miguel Cotto into submission Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Pacquiao knocked Cotto down once in the third and again in the fourth, pummeled him repeatedly and easily lifted the World Boxing Organization welterweight belt from the Puerto Rican with a 12th-round stoppage. The time was 55 seconds into the final round, as referee Kenny Bayless leaped between the fighters to save Cotto a more savage beating and ignominious end.
Cotto came out strong and was able to land some hard punches, but Cotto was unable to deal with the speed. Pacquiao was landing three shots for every two Cotto did early. After the knockdown in the fourth, Cotto’s offense was nonexistent as he spent most of the last two thirds of the fight fending off Pacquiao’s onslaught.
Cotto landed in single digits in power shots in every round from the fifth forward.
Pacquiao nearly had the stoppage after the 11th when Cotto trainer Joe Santiago walked onto the ring apron and waved his hand at Bayless.
It appeared he was going to stop the fight, but then Bayless and ringside physician James Game spoke and allowed it to continue. It was only extending the misery as Pacquiao poured it on in the 12th.
When the fight ended, the crowd began to chant, “We want Floyd!” It was a reference to Floyd Mayweather Jr., the other man with a claim to the top of the boxing pound-for-pound list.
Pacquiao, who has won championship belts in five divisions and beat the linear champion in two others, can no longer be knocked as a small man who was beating washed up fighters.
In Cotto, he took on an elite and powerful welterweight whose only loss came under suspicious circumstances to Antonio Margarito last year. There is suspicion that Margarito’s gloves were loaded for that fight, though it has never been proven.
But Pacquiao proved he was able to not only take a welterweight punch, but rock him repeatedly. It was clearly a magnificent performance and will create public demand for a fight with Mayweather.
“I want to see him fight Mayweather,” Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach said.
Santiago said Pacquiao hit harder and was stronger than expected. Cotto injured his left shoulder in the eighth.

Manny is simply a freak. Truly one of the best fighters in the history of the sport.
I think Cotto should retire. He's got nothing left. He neve once hurt Manny and that's not a good sign. I also wonder what happened to Cotto's right hand? He never used it... I know he's naturally a southpaw, but he essentially fought this fight one-handed. It was very strange...

Manny vs Floyd! Wow!!!! Could be the richest fight ever put on!

I don't think Cotto is done. Through the first 4-5 rounds or so it looked like Cotto was actually leading the fight. Manny opened up a cut on Cotto's face and he went into full defensive mode. I think he has plently of good fights left in him and depending on what happens with Pacquiao/Mayweather I wouldn't mind seeing these two guys go at it again.

No way man... Cotto is the naturally bigger guy, and he never came close to denting Pacman. That should scare the crap out of Cotto and his team. Many smaller - much smaller, men than Cotto have put Manny on the canvas...
Meanwhile, Manny hit Cotto with literally every punch he threw.
Cotto is done with a capital D. He has no defense, and is truly a one-armed fighter. His right hand poses no threat whatsoever. This has been talked about for some time now, and Manny fully exposed it. All fighters who face Cotto in the future will prepare for a one-armed fighter.
Cotto is a warrior and was a great champion. But his time has slipped by. I even think if Mosely fought Cotto again, Mosely would crush him this time around...

He's made his gazillions. Got a great, strong family... Retire while you still can put a few words together in a sentance... otherwise, any future fights for him will continue to be butt-ugly...

Did you see pacquio post match presser, he was hurting too. He didn't show it during the fight, but said he was hurting afterwards (had his head wrapped and was pretty bruised up).

Pacman will beat PBF. PBF beat people cuz of his speed. This time, his speed will be matched with Pacquiao. Pacquiao proved he has the power...never proved he had the chin till he fought a legit wealterweight in Miguel Cotto. PBF is gonna be ducking and running for cover against pacman.

It is gonna be a close fight, if in fact they do fight. Floyd is extremely fast. He will be able to make Pacquiao miss. If they fight I believe it will go to decision or be similar to this fight where it ends in the later rounds. Floyd is just so talented to lose any earlier though I do believe Pacquiao would come out on top. This is all based on the thought they would fight at 145. If it is any higher Floyd wins, if it is any lower Pacquiao wins earlier in the fight.

I did see an interview with pacman and he looked like he wnet thru a war. Big bandage-wrap around the right side of his head and his eye were very puffy and black & blue... But that's my point. In the first 3-4 rounds, Cotto hit Manny with some of his best shots. Shots that took out other fighters or at least rocked them. All Manny would do is bang his head or stomach and ask for more! Nothing Cotto threw dazed Manny... nothing. Sure, it bruised him up pretty good... But Cotto never once was even close to putting Manny in any danger.

Again, Cotto would be smart to retire. The big money fights are now totally out of his reach. He will be subjected to lower-tier fights that will never net him the sort of $$ that would make fighting any further worth it...

I don't see Mayweather losing to Pacman myself. The speed will not be matched in any way. To say that Manny is as fast as Floyd is crazy. The guy is a legend but Mayweather, for all his ego faults, is the master class. It will be close but Mayweather will frustrate Manny into doing something stupid.
