I dont really understand why they are so dead set on Rodney being the closer. It's pretty much a given that he won't be here next year, so why not Archie???

Rodney has been more good than bad...But the bad is just soooooo damn BAD!
I think the fear with Archie moving into the Closer role this season is that it would leave a void in the 8th inning slot... Moving Archie to the closer slot could mean we never see Archie if we can't get thru the 8th! Next season? Done deal baby!

Archie has been masterful as a setup man this season, and Rodney's specialty has always been as a closer. Plus, Rodney has had streaks in which he's been one of the better closers in the league. He's not the best closer in the MLB by any stretch, but he's far from the liability people think he is.

By switching roles this late in the season, it could negatively impact the bullpen. At this moment, keep the two in their respective positions and reevaluate in 2018.

I think the entire team has wanted Bradley to be the closer for some time.
