Panther cuts

Panthers have released two D players Charles Johnson and Kurt Coleman:

Not sure if these guys have anything left or if they are strictly cap cuts. Curious to see if Cards bring these guys as in the slow pitch softball team known as Panthers East

They are vet min guys at best who you bring in for depth and because they can help teach the system.

Kurt Coleman is a centerfield type safety, who had 11 INTs in 2 seasons before last year. Could maybe be worth a look....

Tyvonne Branch is coming off a torn acl. Antoine Bethea is coming off a torn pectoral. Not sure how long Tyrann Mathieu is going to be on the team with these rumors of him not taking a pay cut. I don’t think adding another vet would hurt....

Good point. Our new HC will know if Coleman has anything to offer. We talk about a 'bridge' QB---how about a 'bridge' DB who can call the backfield calls and get everyone lined up?

Plus, we need another deep safety beside Bethea (Mathieu and Baker are better underneath) and a zone FS like Coleman would be a huge asset.

If Coleman is brought in it would probably be at the expense of cutting one of the DBs already on the roster.

We don't need another safety if HB is fully recovered and takes a salary adjustment. Bethea played lights out with his 5 Ints and stat line but he is also at the age when it goes south in a hurry.

I don't know how well Coleman played within the defensive scheme but our Panthers East coaching staff will be able to grade him out vs our current DBs under contract.

We may need not just one but two replacement safeties when all the shuffling is over with.

Bethea, and Baker. The rest are no lock to be here.

I would not be surprised in the least, to see Coleman as a Cardinal and soon.
