Another thing! I dont think that this is a questionable team to play Lienart behind. Lienart is a young, energetic heisman winner who knows how to play the position, granted he has no nfl experience (Rothlisberger), but according to most scouts and people who know football talent (more than we do, or we would be getting phone calls), he is as ready as any rookie has ever been.
My point is that all we have to compare our offensive production to, based on the O- line that we have, is a has been QB (Warner) and 2nd rate skittish wannabe (McCown), Lets see how a young, energetic, talented, college record breaking, heisman trophy winning, QB plays behind the biggest line in the entire league before you label the rest of this offense (James, Boldin, Fitz) as questionable.
I say great move, Denny!!!! Now lets get on with the future!!!!

I totally agree with Harry - except for starting Leinart. It's time to start the future. Troy Aikman and Peyton took a beating their first years - the best can handle it and it just makes them stronger.

otherwise, as usual, I agree with everything you wrote.

Exactly. Harry, pretty much right on, man. Let's not kid ourselves. No more excuses. No more 'we're almost' anything. No more 'but the score was only' or 'one more play' crap. We suck.

It is well known that Green likes very big offensive linemen. In fact, we have the largest offensive lineman in the NFL when many teams are going more towards the athletic and faster OL. Could this be part of the problem? Our guys wear down much faster than guys who weigh 30 lbs less and are not nearly as fast. Is DG behind the times? I do not pretend to know the answers to such questions but they have been posed by former NFL players. I often watch pass rusher run aroung our big guys like they were not even there. Is size part of the problem?

Dude...thats harsh, funny, but harsh

Harry: From my point of view you are very much on the money. I would like to see the Cards somehow finish 8/8 to at least say they improved this year. With our DB's and OL it will be hard to do. Warner is not the problem in the long run. It is the DB's, lack of a pass rush, OL. And of course D. Green! Much or all of this can be solved by money. It is not just the $10 mil we held in reserve this year but its accumulated effects of holding such amounts year after year after year. We sold out the stadium this year but will we sell it out next year if we continue down the road we are on?

You all know that if the Cards had won that game at the end we all would be singing praises that they stayed in the game till the end. That the defense and the crowd had a solid day at the office. That the O-line opened some running lanes and gave the QB time most of the game. That 63000 fans went home yelling and screaming we won, we won.. So forth and so on.

Those fans saw a tough game and were behind this team till the last snap, still believing even at the end that Rackers would kick a 500 yard field goal and we would go home with the win. The only thing that I saw that was missing from a win in that game was the QB and the judgement of some of the coaching staff. After Kurt got sacked early in the game he was not the same the rest of the game. The coaches, medics, teammates should have questioned if he could go on and run the team. Kurt hurt the team, fans and coaches by hanging in there.

It's time for the kid and Warner to watch. Who knows down the road he just might be back. But we all know what that would mean we are giving up or Lienart is hurt. The players for the most part come from winning programs and that what makes a guy like Rolle who has had his problems to call for changes. We have winners on this team let them win.

Actually John, there is evidence that contadicts your theory. Our three best drives have come late in the game. MAybe the defense was tiring out. Maybe our 340 lb guys leaning on them enabled us to start running the rock late in our games.
With that thought maybe we need to pound it earlier and a little more often and take the onus off the QB.
