cant believe this guy is are number five starter right now. i guess after the season starts 1 through five doesn't really matter but maybe because ones face ones and twos face twos and so on and so on. I think its to early in his career to tell how good he is going to be but i am really impressed with his start to the year and am now excited to see this guy take the mound every day.

This. Especially since our Number 1 has been Number 2 :(

Todd Helton said Corbin's slider is the best he's ever seen -- better than Randy Johnson's. He's thrown 189 of them last I checked. That's a lot of sliders for a guy that young. Throwing that many sliders is usually something you see in a reliever, not a starter. It puts into question if Corbin can do this over a whole season, and how long he can do this over his career.

Totally legitimate concern... Not many humans are blessed with an arm that can handle the type of stress delivered by that amount of sliders. Over the course of a season, or consecutive seasons, it can be brutal.
I gotta believe the Dbacks are aware of this... Hopefully at some point in the very near future, they can work with the kid and help him develop beyond the slider. If he can locate his fastball consistently (he's already really good in this area), as well as develop some type of legit off-speed pitch (change-up, split-finger...), he would have a better chance of putting together an extended career.
Otherwise, it's hope and pray that God has gifted him with a Randy Johnson type arm...
