The Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly signed New England Patriots restricted free agent linebacker Christian Elliss to an offer sheet, per ESPN's Mike Reiss.
Due to Elliss being a restricted free agent, it means the deal is simply a placeholder until the Patriots make a decision on what they want to do.
They've tendered Elliss as a right-of-first-refusal restricted free agent, which means they'll have until Monday to match the offer set by Las Vegas. If they match that offer, Elliss would return to New England for another season.
However, if they refuse to match, Elliss will be playing football for the Raiders in 2025, and the Patriots won't receive draft compensation for losing him.
Elliss was one of the few defensive standouts for the Patriots last season with 80 tackles, five pass deflections, one interception and 1.5 sacks.
He started as predominantly a special-teamer but worked his way into the mix as a key cog in the defense. The Patriots have already made several additions at linebacker, including Harold Landry III, Robert Spillane, K'Lavon Chaisson and Jack Gibbens.
It all comes down to price and need when it comes to a potential split with Elliss.
