Paul Pierce says he's the best player in the world

Finals MVP Paul Pierce, who recently spent three days at a ball camp in Madrid, is making, ahem, news about what he said to a Spanish reporter. The money translation, via RedsArmy: "Q: Is Kobe really the best player in the world? Pierce: I don't think Kobe is the best player. I'm the best player. There's a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don't cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself." Surprisingly, Spurs fans seem more upset by this than actual Lakers fans. (Update: OK, Lakers Nation is pretty upset, too.)

Its easy for Paul to say it now with three stars on the team. Both of them aren't the best players in the world, neither could win on their own anyway.

I'd say the stats were pretty even. Kobe scored more and Pierce had more assists.

Kobe is a great player, but I just don't see how stating your opinion is going to end the discussion.

For example, Duncan as more rings than Kobe. LeBron got a far weaker team to the finals to the Finals than Kobe did (LeBron averaged more points and more rebounds than Kobe) with only three point shooting favoriing Kobe.

I'm not picking LeBron over Kobe, just suggesting there is basis for discussion.

That's not what I am saying. There are tons of other factors you have to include. Age, and marketability are two huge factors if you were building a team from scratch.

Lil Wayne's album was pretty slick. Not a song on there I didn't like.
