If Gasol is a Center, Tim Duncan is a center. And Duncan is better. Otherwise, decent write-upby Simmons.

Awesome!

Basketball reasons is the new "because I said so" in our house now.

Wife: "Why didn't you get milk when you were at the store...we're out."
Me: Sorry, basketball reasons.

Kids: Why can't we watch another Phineas and Ferb?
Wife: You just can't...basketball reasons.

Awesome! And way funnier than "taking my talents to..."

The new CBA allows this trade. Stern should have told owners "rules are rules."

Yes, but the other owners have ownership interest in NO through the league. So they have a say in trades that occur.

Again, the problem is that the Hornets are owned by the league. The other owners are not going to stand by and watch a management team appointed by the NBA front office deliver a Gasol type deal to the Lakers. In this deal, they get Paul AND huge cap relief.

Disband the Hornets. Have a draft for their players.

Not only that but it is obvious that Paul and that crooked CAA agency were trying to force their way.

Good for the league they stood up to that.

Stern said he vetoed without owners vote.

Didn't the quote used to go something like... in the best interests of the league.

However, it would be harder for you to use personally. :)

That's collusion. By definition.

The owners of the other teams should not have any say in another team's operations - both the Hornets basketball operations or the financial benefits of the Lakers. Enormous conflict of interest, and Gilbert's email is proof.

The Hornets should be contracted, I agree. What they are doing with the team, IMO, is illegal.

There is nothing wrong with that. At all.

Bad for the league for overstepping their bounds.

Prevailing opinion is not in your corner. That's cool and all, but you are still out on the fringe on this one.

Or Houston's.

What I really want to know is if Sarver was one of those owners that whined. He clearly had an interest in nixing the trade. My guess is that he was leading the charge, or at least near the very front.

Yeah there is nothing wrong with players and agencies trying to dictate where a player can be traded. :bang:

Happens all the time. In all sports. "Don't trade for me (or draft me) I won't sign a deal."

Quite common.

Stern and Gilbert have essentially taken a wrecking ball to the New Orleans franchise. Instead of getting 3 starters, a backup PG and a draft pick for Paul, they will end up receiving...nothing. How many season tickets do you think the Hornets will sell next season? After this season they should just board up the team offices and go out of business.

No one is going to deal with Demps again because they know he has no real authority to do anything. Stern and the other owners have emasculated him. Why Demps hasn't already resigned is a mystery to me. The league has been essentially wasting his time for the past year.

Is this step one to force a contraction? NO has been set back a decade by this move.
