I know how to turn this around. Start and finish with Bledsoe, Knight, Price, Booker and Goodwin. It seems like only guards can score for us anyway so we might as well line them all up.

Huh? The only Sun who could score down the stretch was Leuer. All Bledsoe could do was dribble into traffic and either lose the handle or throw up a prayer, and Knight was restricted to his usual indiscriminate bombing from the outside.

I was just taking a shot at our starting frontcourt.

A reminder that Jeff once joked about using five Guards.

How prophetic, now that we've seen that he doesn't know how to staff and use a frontcourt to its advantage.

The sad thing is that, even if Horny is let go, he'd be followed by another Guard/offense-oriented head coach.

It's the Suns DNA.

The Suns cannot win consistently by out scoring opponents and they are not built to win by relying on their defense... much less do both. IMO, they need to find a coach that is committed towards a specific style of play. The Suns do have talent but it primarily rests in the hands of four smaller players in Bledsoe, Knight, Warren and Booker. I'd like to have the opinion of some veteran coaches about the Suns roster. I sort of like the Bulls style of play. They bring the defense every night but they are still an exciting team to watch.

Now, why wasnt Ish good enough to be re-signed by the Suns?

Was this asked in jest? Ish has had a horrible career, he is on his 10th team in a mere 5 season, his 3rd team since the Suns let him go. He is off to a nice start but I'm not holding my breath that a 39% career shooter (28% from 3) is going to keep up his current decent start to the season. And even if he does, nearly half the league has released the guy at one point or another, I cannot blame the Suns for not foreseeing that a few years down the road he'd turn into something serviceable.

Yeah, I agree. I really liked Ish as a 3rd string guard and just assumed we let him go because he wanted a chance to play a bigger role. I never expected him to play well enough to warrant a starter or primary backup role but I can't help but hope he succeeds. He was a great cheerleader on the bench and I love players that give it their all and do it with a smile.

I think some fans wonder why the Suns chose Ish Smith instead of Ronnie Price. IMO, there is not much difference between the two players. I do like Ish's speed. The Suns locked onto Price fairly quickly.

I was in favor of keeping Ish - he kept the break going, ran the offense as well as Bled or Dragic - turned the ball over less, too - and was a tough as nails rebounder. Somehow he got psyched out shooting three's for the Suns (4.3%) - which I think played some role in not keeping him. (Other than that year he was a 30% shooter from that range so I think I'd have gambled he'd return to form.) I imagine McD would have snagged IT in any case simply because he was available at a good price - so Ish wouldn't stayed if the team had wanted him.

Assuming he were willing to return I'd have taken Ish over Price this year but Ronnie is doing a fine job, so you can't call it a bad decision.
