I am happy for Pendy...he did make some progress this past year, albeit with mixed results...but I think he now has a better understanding of how to play pressure defense.

Is he the DC? If he's a LB coach instead, then that's a bit of a bummer.

As for Ward...Whiz must not have been too sad to see him go, otherwise he would have prevented it.

In fact, if the Cardinals hire Al Saunders as WR coach I think it's a brilliant move...it gives Warner his coaching sidekick who will brainstorm with him the way Haley did.

So if the Cardinals are Steelers-west, does this now make the Chiefs Cardinals-east?? Though, not technically in the east. Maybe the AFC Cardinals?

CHIEFS ANNOUNCE ASSISTANT COACHES, WITHOUT DISCLOSING THEIR SPECIFIC JOBS
Posted by Mike Florio on February 17, 2009, 6:29 p.m.
The Kansas City Chiefs have temporarily pulled back the curtain, allowing a brief glimpse into the secret-to-the-point-of-bizarre world that the franchise has created since the conclusion of the 2008 season.

In fact, we think that we’ll start referring to the team as the “Emerald City Chiefs.”

Anyway, someone must have shown up with the broomstick of the Wicked Witch of the West, because the Wizard has coughed up some information.

Joining the coaching staff are Joel Collier, Gary Gibbs, Steve Hoffman, Bill Muir, Clancy Pendergast, Pat Perles, and Dedric Ward.

The team also announced that the following coaches have been retained: Bob Bicknell, Joe D’Alessandris, Chan Gailey, Tim Krumrie, Brent Salazar and Cedric Smith.

The catch? The Chiefs didn’t specify the specific positions that any of the coaches will occupy.

Last year, Bicknell was the offensive line coach, D’Alessandris was the assistant offensive line coach, Gailey was the offensive coordinator, Krumrie was the defensive line coach, Salazar was the assistant strength and conditioning coach, and Smith was the strength and conditioning coach.

In 2008, the new arrivals had the following jobs: Collier was out of football after spending 2007 as the secondary coach in New England; Gibbs was the Saints’ defensive coordinator, Hoffman was the Dolphins’ kicking coach, Muir was the Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator/offensive line coach, Pendergast was the Cardinals’ defensive coordinator, Perles was the offensive coordinator at North Dakota State, and Ward was a quality control coach with the Cardinals.

Our semi-educated guess is that Collier will coach the defensive backs, Hoffman will coach the special teams, and Pendergast or Gibbs will work as defensive coordinator, with the other one serving as linebackers coach.

For Perles, Muir, and Ward, they presumably will have jobs on the offensive side of the ball. Beyond that, their duties are unclear.

KC's defense already was terrible, much like ours was when Pendy first came here. Maybe he will renew some of that magic that initially won some of us over. Derrick Johnson can be his all over the field guy IMO.

I'm thinking Clancy will be LB's coach and Gibbs will be DC.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

Didn't the Cardinals have a Cedric Smith as a fullback during the mid-late 90's? I wonder if its the same guy.

One step forward for their offense, but one step back for their defense. Advantage push.

And from the fake news desk:

HUNT FAMILY TO PURCHASE GLENDALE AREA DAIRY FARM

Posted by jefftheshark on February 17, 2009, 11:36 p.m.

Citing a sales price that was too good to pass up, the four sons of Lamar Hunt who now control the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, announced today that they were purchasing a dairy farm in the idyllic suburban hamlet of Glendale, Arizona.

We heard about the farm and thought that there were way too many great development opportunities available on this land, for us to pass it up. Of course there were some strings attached in order to get the great price, but what the hell, we'll iust have to learn to live with a ten yard cushion around our Cornerbacks.

After Googling the area where the dairy farm sits, the Hunt's were happy to see that a huge silver barn resides on the south forty. "I bet you can park a slew of cows in that shed!!!", exclaimed the youngest Hunt.

Unfortunately, Clark, the eldest Hunt son had to leave the press conference early, as he had about "a couple of thousand pounds of old silver" that needed to be taken to the escrow company to secure the purchase.

More as the story develops...................

Good for them. I wish both guys well, and good lucky in KC.

Do we play the Cheifs next year ? We can throw WR screens till Warner's arm falls off.

Or we can let them score on there first drive and pick apart the prevent defense they will be playing for the rest of the game.
