Another Penn State men's baksetball player is reportedly entering the NCAA transfer portal. Hudson Ward is the next Nittany Lion to make plans to explore his transfer options this offseason, according to reports from Lions247 and The Athletic. Ward is coming off his freshman season in Happy Valley.

Ward was a four-star recruit and one of the top recruits to come out of Canada (Edmonton, Alberta's Western Canada Prep Academy). The 6'-7" 210-pound player made appearances in eight games for Penn State this season but he did not record a point. Ward committed to Penn State over offers from Florida Gulf Coast, San Jose State, San Diego, Rice, and more.

By entering a name in the transfer portal database, players are allowed to have contact with other programs looking to recruit them to their respective programs. Players may take their names out of the transfer portal at any time if they wish, but they run the risk of their current school filling a scholarship slot with no guarantees made once entering the transfer portal.

Ward is the second Penn State player to decide to enter the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. He joins Jahvin Carter, who confirmed his intent to transfer last week. With the Nittany Lions already set to lose five players moving on from the program through graduation, Rhoades has some work to do in order to keep a roster together for the 2025-26 season.

The good news is help is on the way to Happy Valley. Penn State's incoming recruiting class is one of the highest-rated recruiting classes in program history and is highlighted by New York Gatorade Player of the Year Kayden Mingo.
