Another Iowa Hawkeye has entered the transfer portal.
Former four-star signee Cooper Koch is the latest Iowa basketball transfer portal entrant. Koch enters the portal after appearing in 10 games during his first season on campus.
The 6-foot-8, 215 pound forward averaged 4.6 points and 2.1 rebounds per game while shooting 48.4% from the field and 42.9% from 3-point range. Koch missed the majority of the season due to an undisclosed health issue.
247Sports' Travis Banham was the first to report the news of Koch's portal entry. Koch now represents the sixth Hawkeye to enter the transfer portal following the season's end and firing of head coach Fran McCaffery, joining forwards Owen Freeman, Pryce Sandfort and Riley Mulvey and guards Brock Harding and Josh Dix.
Eliot Clough of Hawkeye Beacon with Rivals reported that Koch said he will consider a return to Iowa after exploring portal options and finding out who the Hawkeyes' next head coach is.
Koch arrived in Iowa City as the nation's No. 86 player overall, as the No. 16 power forward and as the No. 2 player from Illinois per 247Sports in the 2024 signing class.
ESPN ranked Koch the highest, regarding Koch as the country's No. 67 player, as the No. 9 power forward and as the No. 3 player from Illinois.
According to Rivals, Koch was the nation's 118th-ranked player. On3 rated Koch as the No. 117 player nationally.
In addition to Iowa, Koch also held offers from schools such as Bradley, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.
