What has failed to be mentioned on here, is there is a reason the Eagles came out last week and confessed they would accept a 2nd round pick for Kolb..

Kolb is a F.A. next year.. there is no way he stays an eagle so they are in the trade him now, or keep him and let him walk next year for nothing.. That is a huge disadvantage for the eagles...

For other teams looking to deal, no one, is going to give up an early-mid 1st round pick for Kolb.. No the 49ers and sure as hell not the Cardinals..

Seattle MAY give up their first round pick but after spending a kings ransom last year for a relatively unproven guy, I doubt they would spend their first on Kolb...

So the deal will be a 2nd and maybe another mid-round pick... And the Cardinals have amoung the highest 2nd round picks that would be available for Kolb..

The Cardinals need to keep the pressure up and get the deal done for the 2nd round pick..

Let me get back to you.....it was discussed just among him and one of my good friends (and I happened to be there) as well as between me and a person on the Cards staff. Ill check with them and see if they have any issue with me passing this info along.

I might not be able to post it, but I might be able to PM it to a few people as long as you do not post it.

And for any of those of you that think I am full of it, you can ask both GEE and O, I told them both over two weeks ago about this and the list of QBs. Even mentioned to Gee tonight how funny it was it took this long to break.

Hey Brother, I'd be interested.. PM me :)

Peter King reporting in Monday Morning QB he sees the Cardinals drafting QB at #5. Maybe the Cards go rookie/Vet route instead of Kolb?

That would be ideal as well depending on draft picks (Newton IMO) and vet (maybe a Palmer, Bulger, or Hass?) they choose.

Still like Kolb but a vet that can win next year and a rookie to groom would be great IMHO

I could see the Dolphins giving up their first-round pick (15th overall) for Kolb. Whoever trades for him is going to immediately sign him to a contract extension. I wonder if the Vikings would be interested in a first-round swap for Kolb (with a 3rd thrown in or something).

I wonder how having Matt Leinart available as a free agent for zero draft picks will affect the asking prices for guys like Orton and Kolb.

That's the thing. Would you rather have a cheaper player with some upside like #7 (who I think would be expected to compete) or Alex Smith (who I think would expect to be the presumptive starter) for just money than trade for Orton and Kolb and spend a similar amount of money?

I want them to go after the best available QB period, draft picks and money be damned. If Kolb is the guy they think they can win with and gives us the best chance, then I won't complain about the bounty it cost.

The risk is in the assessment, not in the possible cost IMO.

Marc Bulger for me. He ready to win now QB just what us fans want. Plus Bulger has ran this kind of offense and Kolb has not. Bulger is the best option of the two.

I certainly am with Bulger on this choice. I think with Bulger you have a guy who has game experience and you know what you are getting. You do not have to give up a reported 2 #1s that could be the asking price for Kolb. To me Kolb is worth a #3 and no more. We need a guy who is game ready come August not two years from now. Any team that would give up two first round picks for Kolb needs a new GM. Not even Graves is that foolish.

That should be the way it is but you know in reality cost is a major factor in all personnel decisions in the NFL.

With most other teams, and a different offseason I may agree with you.

But I think in the Cardinals scenario where they have a newly found fan base expectation of being on top, a franchise WR tied to this decision, as well as the need to bounce back from the worst QB situation in the NFL last year when your coach is a noted QB guru, they don't have a choice but to go for broke.

(I used to sit in a lawn chair and pretend to read a magazine while a bunch of Rams displaced water in a community hot tob and discussed game plans never suspecting the nice blonde lady totally engrossed in Ladies Home Journal was listening in on every word. Did I call Stu Nahan and give him the scoop? Nooooooo! So I'm totally trustworthy. :))

Just for information purposes were you referring to Whisenhunt as a noted QB's guru? He's never even been a Quarterback's coach, he's always coached TE's and HB's.

Oh goodness. I know he has never been QB coach. But he was OC for both Ben Rothlesberger and Kurt Warner during some of their best years.

And if you look back to the past 6 years, Wiz has led a stud QB for all of those years but the last. Thats not a coincidence.

So while numerous people like to debate (like what came first, the chicken or the egg) I give Wiz a ton of credit in helping those gusy achieve those heights.

Jurecki is refuting the statement that Fitz wants Kolb. Said that the name he's heard is Kyle Orton.

What is a "ready to win now" QB? In my eyes, it's not Bulger. The guys has not had success since 2006. That was also the last season he played all 16 games.

You can argue Kolb is a riskier option because of lack of experience and the fact he will cost some high draft picks to obtain, but from what Ive seen during his opportunities, the guy is aggressive, can make plays and be groomed to be the starter for our franchise for 10 +/- years.

Bulger, with his age, would be just another patch for our lack of a franchise guy, and this time, we wouldnt get MVP type production like we did with Warner.

The FO needs to at least make that call to the Eagles and see what they would take for Kolb.

Bulger is the man. I have to point out that Bulger 2006 on didn't have anybody around him. Coaching staff suck, and what talent was around him was often injuried. Leaving Bulger without any talent around him . It was just a bad situation for Bulger. Backing up Flaco this season is just what he needed. Bulger may be a stop gap. He has at least 4 years left on him and this will allow the Cardinals to get their qb of the future.

Amen!!! That is the most sensible comment I have heard. What I find somewhat odd (and again I say my hope is Kolb #! and Orton #2) is one of the beat guys handicapped who will be #1 and he predicted Bulger...Okay..but he has not done too much since 2006..four years ago?? Then he puts McNabb odds, also about the same age who has not done too much in two years at 70-1??? I don't get it....let's pay the price as it was stated and get the best we can...if they don't we will be having the same tired discussions about this next year.

I would throw up in my mouth if we traded the #36 pick (because I think that is what Elway is going to demand) for a journeyman QB is at BEST is a top 15-20 qb in the league...

Maybe a 3rd if we also draft a QB in the first, but that should be the extent of our interest in Orton...

And FWIW, I grew up a die hard Bronco fan and follow them as my 2nd team to this day... Orton is NOT the answer for the Cardinals future..

He's never coached HBs at the collegiate or professional level. He did coach Special Teams for Vanderbilt and the Browns.

But when you take the reigns as an offensive coordinator, you have to learn EVERY offensive position, including the quarterback. The year he took over as the OC for Pittsburgh was the same year they drafted Roethlisberger. He is largely responsible for his growth on the field (dont ask about his off-field bull crap). We know how successful he's been in the NFL. Then there was Kurt in 2007. That season, even though Leinart was the starter, he would insert Warner during no-huddle type situations. In 2008, he replaced Leinart as the starter. Easily, he could have stuck with Leinart, but made the smart decision to start Kurt instead. I would consider that a huge QB success story given the fact that before Whiz, Warner was a shell of his former self and his career was resurrected under the new regime.

I prefer a Newton/McNabb combo... :D

But I wouldn't be opposed to Kolb if we got him for a 2nd round pick especially if a new CBA doesn't get done in time, so it would be a 2012 2nd round pick...

But I think giving up anything more than a 2nd is too much...

I'm not sold on Newton or McNabb..but too each his own.

I'd be more willing to give up our second rounder for Orton than Kolb. Orton has shown a lot more than Kolb has. Either is a gamble but I believe Orton would be less of a risk.

If the CBA doesn't get done, we won't be getting either, as no player movement can be done period. Will only be able to trade picks for picks.

I was feeling good today and all excited about Butler and still am, but this makes me sick...

I'm sorry but of all the QB's out there, if this is the best the Cardinals can do, we are in deep trouble.

SI's Peter King believes the Cardinals are looking at free agent Marc Bulger "seriously" as a quarterback stopgap.
Bulger would be the heavy favorite to beat out John Skelton, and the Cardinals perhaps could bring back Max Hall as the third stringer or let him compete with another draft pick. Bulger turns 34 this April. He'd be a cheap option and a better bet to consistently get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald than Skelton.

Maybe this is just me imposing my sensible logic on Rod Graves, but I would be willing to bet that if they go Bulger, the 1st or 2nd round pick will be spent on a QB.

I could see us trading back up into Round 1 as well.

FYI Peter King also said today that he felt the Cardinals would draft QB at #5
