Excited for this signing. Either it will be a train wreck or exciting as ****. Either way, it's all entertaining and something vastly different than what we've been accustomed to the last couple of seasons.

The contract isn't awful, so we might as well gamble on upside at this point.

Good god, the Wolves couldnt give him away when he had a ONE year deal at 6 million...

I have rapidly lost all faith in this front office. Betraying the fan base with the Nash trade, aggressively pursuing and overpaying one of the worst free agents on the market in Beasley. Just awful.

And for those of you who keep saying Beasley has tons of talent... this isnt 2008 anymore. He is a talentless hack. If that draft were redone he would not sniff the lotto. He makes no use of his height, he is not at all quick or strong for his size. We signed a lazier version of Glenn Robinson... with a drug problem. Hooray.

Totally agree. Beasley isn't the exciting draft pick Beasley anymore.

In the NBA it's rare when you don't have a pretty good idea of a players ability by year 3-4. Like I said, I hope that 3rd year is a team option.

Lol NOW you are losing faith in the FO. You been in a cave the last 5 years?

I like the deal as there are worse ways to spend 6 million a year. But anyone expecting this team to be very good until Sarver sells the team is a hopeless case anyway.

Do the smart thing. Boycott the team until Sarver sells. Dude is too concerned about making money to keep losing money on a failed product.

We had a NEW front office. Babby had been at least saying some things that were in line with how to build for the future. But these current moves have thrown a big turd on every statement he made the last few months.

Sarver is just an idiot. I never felt that he was truly cheap, just stupid. Today is further confirmation of those thoughts. I was hoping a smart GM could put this organization on the right track, I've lost that faith.

And just because there are worse ways to waste 18 million isnt a justification, just a reflection on the awful choices this team makes.

Sarver is cheap. He is the guy who buys himself a big meal then leaves a 10% tip. Yeah he spent some money but ultimately he was cheap

There are more generous owners, there are also much cheaper ones. The Suns have not been on the low end of the salary ladder during his ownership. We do idiot moves like shipping off a pick so we can give Banks a 20 million dollar contract. Ship off Marion in a contract year so we can pay shaq 30 million. He has made moves to avoid the luxury tax but almost every team has. But his moves to avoid the tax have been unconscionably stupid and short sighted.

I will say, in comparison to Colangelo, yes, he is cheap. Colangelo was definitely a fans owner. Cared far more about the win column than the cash flow.

And this is not a defense of Sarver. I'd love if he sold the team (as long as they stayed in town). He is one of the worst owners in sports, but I think its because he is stupid and short sighted... which is more damaging than just being cheap.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I was willing to give them a chance once it came down to a full rebuild. They did the right thing last year with the Brown, Redd, Telfair signings. So I was optimistic, and I really do want to be optimistic about the Suns. But the recent moves and rumored moves have more or less put an end to that.

Dude it rots from the head. Just like with Kerr and BC, Babby is just a figure head because ALL decisions are based on finances, PR, and selling tickets.

When I say FO I'm talking about they guy who signs the checks. Until he is gone you could have Jerry West and RC Buford and still we would be pissing off Joe, trading Kurt Thomas, and selling off Rondo and Iguodala.

Use your head. It's not about Babby and Blanks. They are likely good guys tryi g their best. But they are playing with a stacked deck. Do we really need to go down the list of major decisions one by one and how EVERYTHING was motivated by money?

Did you even read last post? It was all about Sarver... he is inept, he is a buffoon, I agree that it will take an insane amount of luck to ever have success under him.

I don't think Beasley is a good signing, but I'm willing to see how it works out.

What you don't get is he is NOT stupid. He actually very intelligent.

But he's running the team like its one of his failed banks. No one is bailing him out. He is in fact VERY cheap, he just does enough to trick the casual fan into thinking otherwise. Your entire assessment is way off.

Not to mention he is the anti Jerry C in that other owners and those around the league despise him. He's new money all day and embarrasses our organization time and time again.

You can be myopic and support this clown. I gve him the benefit of the doubt for many years. But now it's the definition of insanity to keep cheering for this team. The mountain of evidence is too much to ignore at this point.

Boycott. It's the only answer.

He is stupid. He is treating his NBA team like its real estate investments. "Oh, I have money to spend, lets buy up some assets quick!"... "Oh, I'm over extended? Sell regardless of market".

He is an NBA moron.

And sadly I dont think boycotting will do anything productive. If the fans left en-mass then the likely result would be the franchise ends up with a new owner in a new city.

And where have I ever said I support him? Calling him "one of the worst owners in sports" is not a ringing endorsement. I WISH he was just cheap, but he is short sighted and idiotic. Far more damaging that just being a penny pincher.

[sarcasm]Yep, that'll work. [/sarcasm]

I edited that but not quick enough for you Chap;)

I'm telling you Sarver cares too much about being seen as a successful businessman and making money to keep the team.

If the fans don't show he'll sell soon enough. This I know.

The good news is no one really needs to boycott. There's so much else to do in Phoenix that naturally fans won't show for a 30 win team so I may get my wish anyway.

sarver is the very definition of "penny-wise and pound foolish."

Let's see... the positive... at least it's not 4 years@$6 million per year. I think somebody else already pointed this out, but Minnesota could not get anybody to take this guy at $6 million for the last year of his contract. Between him and Warrick we have $10 million per season wrapped up in tweener forwards who are terrible defenders.

This is not our owner. This is dumb management... that the owner hired.

Beasley is not a tweener forward, he played pretty much only SF for Minnesota the last 2 years..

Also Minnesota could have traded Beasley to the Lakers.. Minnesota blocked it in the end.

Beasley was a throw in for a Pau Gasol trade. The trade didn't fall apart based on Beasley's inclusion or exclusion.
