Legitimately worried about this team. The lack of intensity and focus...the lack of rebounding and defense, and now Book is out when seemingly everyone is in a slump. Desperately need CP3 to step up huge on offense, or we're absolutely screwed.

Well, I've heard of too soon, is that close enough?

Our best chance lies with Devin returning fully healed for game one of the next series. If we need him before then, we're likely toast.
I kinda feel the same way. He’s usually out around two-ish weeks. And in the long run, if we’re gonna win this thing that hammy is going to have to be totally healed so it doesn’t get jacked again.

DA needs to assert himself and come out guns blazing. These last 2 months he hasn’t played like a max guy….again not to stir a debate, but he doesn’t always have the right focus which is problematic.

JV isn’t an easy matchup but if DA isn’t gonna score, he needs to get 15+ rebounds and be disruptive.

JV has absolutely dominated DA. That's, also, extremely concerning.

Personally I think he’s out for at least games 3-5. When is the last time any of you can recall someone coming back from a hammy sooner rather than later?
That's why I am thinking more like Game 6 unless 5 was an elimination game. I can see Booker giving it a try if we are on the verge. Not that he would make it through the game but I could see him laying it out there. If not though? Sit him. We need him for the rest of the playoffs.

Booker himself in the finals last year. He sat for one quarter and gutted out the remainder of the series. I believe that was game 3.

That was the finals, I get that it's a different atmosphere but it says what sort of competitor Booker is and also his threshold for pain.

I hope the fact that they have to plan around Booker’s absence means they have a better plan than game two. And that having to execute it on the road blows any remaining complacency out of the locker room.

ESPN+ has an article about how much trouble the Suns are in without Booker.

Espn.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/33774003/nba-playoffs-2022-devin-booker-injured-here-how-phoenix-suns-approach-rest-first-round

Here's a snippet about the timetable for his return...

The good news for the Suns is Booker's hamstring injury doesn't sound severe. Per Wojnarowski, Phoenix has not yet ruled him out for the remainder of this series. A return in the first round is realistic for a hamstring strain of indeterminate severity. Jeff Stotts of InStreetClothes.com noted that the median time missed for such injuries this season was 8.5 days. Game 5 of the series is a week after Booker went out, while Game 6 will be played nine days after.

Woof, 2-3 weeks per Woj. We're going to have to get through at least the first round without him.

Yup. I think we’re looking at a 7 game series at this point and best case is Book back by Game 1 or 2 of the round 2 if we advance.

Would just be another example of the Suns curse for Book to go out in Game park of a Finals run right after pouring 31 in the first half.

As a follow up.

From ESPN:

Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker has suffered a Grade 1 right hamstring strain and could miss 2-3 weeks, sources told ESPN's Brian Windhorst on Thursday.

Sources told ESPN on Wednesday that Booker would likely miss Games 3 and 4 against the New Orleans Pelicans and that the Suns were still evaluating his MRI results to get a full picture of the injury and a clearer timeline for a return.

We just don't get to have nice things. Crushing. I'm bringing my nephew out for a game next weekend. either game 7 or game 1 of round 2.

Step it up
Could be the same blessing we had last year with cp3 missing some time so we can gel a little bit as a unit without that ISO Booker we get at times.. I don't like that style for the playoffs personally.

If Booker misses 3 weeks we are facing a huge uphill battle. 2 weeks from now would put us at May 5th. 3 weeks would be May 12th. We would well be into the second round with either Utah or Dallas with potentially a huge hole to climb out of. It would be an uphill battle IMO with not getting Booker back well into the 2nd round (especially if it's 3 weeks).

Honestly, I think we want this series or the Utah/Dallas series to go long. Here is why. If this series goes 7 games, the last game would be scheduled April 30th. That means the 2nd round wouldn't start until the 1st week of May a few days later right? That would put us at the 2 week rest mark for Booker. Anything quicker than that could be big trouble for us.

For the Suns:
If the series ends Game 5 round 1 is over April 26th
If the series ends Game 6 round 1 is over April 28th
If the series ends Game 7 round 1 is over April 30th

For the Utah/Mavs:
If the series ends Game 5 round 1 is over April 26th
If the series ends Game 6 round 1 is over April 29th
If the series ends Game 7 round 1 is over May 1st

I have not checked the other playoffs teams and who has the latest scheduled games but I am assuming it's all within a few days of each other. So, some assumptions being made here. Again, assuming he is out 2 weeks that means Booker might be back for game one of round 2 or miss the first game. If he is out 3 weeks? We could be looking at him not returning until Game 3 or 4 of the next round.

At the very least we want as many series to go 7 games as possible for Book's sake so it delays the start of the second round.

If the suns can't beat the pelicans without Booker. They weren't gonna win the championship. He's a great player, but overall the suns team should be better

What fans tend to forget, the Pelicans are not the same team with CJ McCollum and Larry Nance Jr. that only won 36 regular season games. They are a vastly better team now.

The Trail Blazers really improved the Pelicans and Clippers by making terrible trades.

Suns need to worry about winning the next game and the next game after that and so on. Nothing else matters.

Well ofcourse. However, Booker getting enough time to heal is obviously relevant to this series and beyond. Also, this thread is about his injury.
