Well ofcourse. However, Booker getting enough time to heal is obviously relevant to this series and beyond.

The Suns would do well to beat the Pelicans in this playoff series. Until they do, I'm not even thinking about the future.

I'm not counting on Booker returning anytime soon. Suns have to think about getting through each game. The rest is beyond their control.

I'm not confident at this point until the Suns prove otherwise. They have not played good defense of late and their rebounding has disappeared.

Here is an explanation about a Grade 1 hamstring from a former Suns athletic trainer.

Again, ofcourse. Nobody is saying don't think about the next game or focus on that. This is not the game thread. It's a thread to discuss his injury and return. So, naturally people can and should discuss it here.

All the other stuff you are pointing out I don't disagree with.

I don't think we are in disagreement at all except I don't want to look that far ahead. I'm only throwing in how I look at it.

I think people are going to continue to talk about his return, status and outlook here as they should. I would suspect the game thread and this one will be very different in subject matter.

There is no chance that a grade one tear is going to linger on for three weeks. Even two weeks is a serious stretch (pun intended.) If you have ever engaged in even moderate lifting, you've had grade one issue a few times. You are back squatting and dead-lifting in a week. This is literally a pulled muscle, nothing more.

Regardless, if the Suns can't win a best of five against New Orleans without Booker, they weren't getting past the Warriors anyway.

I have no problem with people talking about it and they will. My focus is on, can the Suns beat the Pelicans.

They can't beat the Pelicans if they don't even out the rebounding.

I've said it before, It wouldn't be the SUNS unless everything in the universe aligns against us.
We should have expected this. We still have a team that might be able to hold the fort down.
Book will be back in a week, unless we win straight through.

I would like to agree with you but the NBA was informed Booker is “out indefinitely after suffering a right hamstring injury in Game 2 of the Phoenix’s first-round series with the New Orleans Pelicans.” Plus, his last Grade 1 pull had him out for several weeks. I think everybody is different.

Booker missed seven games (19 days) with his last Grade 1 pull. The grade 1 pull before that he missed 4 games (9 days). There is zero reason to believe this is much different from those. Sounds like at a minimum he is out until Game 6 or 7 assuming it goes that far.

I think if the Suns face elimination? I think Book would chance it. He is so damn competitive. I am not counting on him returning for round 1. If he does? Great.

I am just saying the "focus" in these threads is very different. Besides, if the Suns pull this off? They are not getting very far in round 2 without him anyway.

Suns didn't put a time line on Devin Booker injury.

IMO, usually when a team is being coy about stuff like this it's because they don't want to say what they know. Just because they have not made an official statement doesn't mean someone didn't leak what they know. I guess it could legitimately mean he is day to day but something tells me they would just say that since they have done that in the past.

This is likely gamesmanship for the playoffs. You make the other team focus and prepare for a guy who may or may not be there.

They are not being coy. Three weeks is ridiculous for a grade I injury. It would likely be idea to allow him to rest for 2-3 weeks, but there is zero chance he can't play in a week. My preference is to have the Suns win the next three games while Mavs and Jazz go to game 7. Hell, I might rest him for the first game of that series as well, but I am certain that he will be able to go a week after the injury took place.

Except it's not in Booker's case. His history says between his last two grade ones? Two weeks is a reasonable time table. The quickest he has been able to return is 9 days (missed 4 games). Him being back before that would be the fastest he has ever healed from a Grade 1 hamstring pull. I guess it's possible but it wouldn't be consistent. A little over one week to two and a half weeks seems to be consistent with previous injuries.

He played with one in the finals, missing 1/2 of a game.

This is the most mild form of the injury.
I just looked up the injury report. I didn't see any official injury classified as Grade 1 like the others. Muscle tightness is not the same thing as a pull. Guys play through tight muscles all the time. Either way that seemed to be much more minor compared to the other two Grade 1's regardless of an official classification.

Why are you all so scared of the Pelicans all of a sudden? They're definitely better with CJ Mccollum, but he's a zero time all-star whose team always lost in the playoffs despite having one of the 75 best players (allegedly) in NBA history.

The Suns shouldn't lose another game to them. If they do then Booker deserves the MVP.

None of us are scared but there’s definitely concern heading into game 3. We haven’t played all that great and our weaknesses when we lose have been getting dominated on the boards and the other team being on fire from 3.

Game 3 is going to tell us a lot about what kind of team we are right now. We need all hands on deck. While McCollum may not be an All-Star, he has had some moments in the playoffs and is capable of leading a team after getting out from Dame’s shadow.

We need to play desperate and can’t let the rebounding get away from us. DA I need a 25-15 game. He’s capable. He’s gotta match JV’s physicality and impose his will. Put up or shut up these next 2 road games.

Yeah the initial article I linked today just before this 2-3 week talk started said average time missed is 8.5 days for this injury. This is the playoffs so shedding a day or two off is fair. I think he returns for game 5 or 6 provided we don't face elimination before then.

What fans tend to forget, the Pelicans are not the same team with CJ McCollum and Larry Nance Jr. that only won 36 regular season games. They are a vastly better team now.

The Trail Blazers really improved the Pelicans and Clippers by making terrible trades.
Yup. I’ve shown before that with this lineup the pels are 9-3. It’s a ridiculously small sample size but that winning percentage would’ve given them 62 wins over an entire season. Even if they didn’t keep that up they’d have likely been a top 3, maybe 4 at worst, seed.
