I just have to laugh this is a guy who knows how to rub it in. yes he tabs Pace and Boldin, but Plummer MVP and Colvin DPOY directly to the heart of any Cardinal Fan!

AFC
EAST

1. Buffalo, 10-6: Henry gains 1,793 yards. Fumbles twice. Gets traded.
*2. N.E, 9-7: I still don't know how the Pats will run the ball.
*3. Miami, 9-7: Fantasy owners who passed on Ricky Williams are loons.
4. N.Y. Jets, 6-10: Boo birds strafe rookie Dewayne Robertson by Columbus Day.

NORTH

1. Pittsburgh, 11-5: Tommy Maddox: Comeback Player of the Decade.
2. Baltimore, 8-8: Good move, Coach Billick. Kyle Boller is the man to play at QB.
3. Cleveland, 7-9: Kelly Holcomb's a stud. Courtney Brown, Gerard Warren aren't.
4. Cincinnati, 5-11: The problem is, Marvin Lewis doesn't actually suit up.

SOUTH
1. Indianapolis, 10-6: No conviction. Just a gut feeling that coach Tony Dungy fixes the D.
2. Tennessee, 9-7: Anyone seen Jevon Kearse? He's a little important.
3. Jacksonville, 8-8: My money's on QB David Garrard to start six or seven games.
4. Houston, 4-12: Doomed by a bad running game and offensive line.

WEST
1. Denver, 10-6: Jake Plummer starts slow, finishes very fast. MVP fast.
2. Oakland, 9-7: I question whether Rich Gannon can stay upright again.
3. Kansas City, 7-9: To my colleague Paul Zimmerman: I don't see it, Doctor.
4. San Diego, 7-9: David Boston becomes the first 400-pound wideout ever.

Wild-card round
Denver 19, Miami 9.
New England 30, Indianapolis 21

Divisional round:
Denver 22, Pittsburgh 21
Buffalo 20, New England 17

AFC Championship:
Buffalo 27, Denver 17

NFC
East

1. Philadelphia, 12-4: Ever heard of L.J. Smith? You will, 70 catches from now.
*2. N.Y. Giants, 9-7: Wear some armor, Tiki Barber. You'll touch the ball 350 times.
3. Washington, 6-10: Patrick Ramsey looks like a 56 percent passer to me.
4. Dallas, 5-11: Bill Parcells would kill for a 56 percent passer.

North
1. Green Bay, 9-7: The Pack is too tough for this weak division.
2. Minnesota, 8-8: DT Chris Hovan: The league's next weirdo superstar.
3. Chicago, 6-10: I am officially throwing out the first Nick Saban rumor.
4. Detroit, 4-12: Bad sign: Steve Mariucci is mainlining Grecian Formula.

South
1. Tampa Bay, 10-6: So many huge games finally take a toll. Somehow.
*2. Carolina, 10-6: That's right. The kitties grow claws. I love that defense.
3. Atlanta, 9-7: Early loss to Carolina, minus Michael Vick, is death knell.
4. New Orleans, 7-9: Saints buy Warren Sapp after the season.

West
1. St. Louis, 11-5: Warner was 22 of 24 against Buffalo and Tampa Bay this summer.
2. Seattle, 8-8: CB Shawn Springs' injury takes its toll on 'Hawks.
3. S.F., 8-8: Can't forget that defensive effort in playoffs against the Giants.
4. Arizona, 5-11: Sleeper fantasy pick, folks: WR Anquan Boldin.

Wild-card round

Tampa Bay 20, Giants 14.
Carolina 16, Green Bay 12.

Divisional round:
Carolina 17, Philadelphia 16.
St. Louis 30, Tampa Bay 24.

NFC Championship:
St. Louis 9, Carolina 7.

SUPER BOWL: St. Louis 28, Buffalo 20.

And now, my awards predictions:

MVP: Jake Plummer, quarterback, Denver.

Offensive player of the year: Ricky Williams, running back, Miami.

Defensive player of the year: Rosevelt Colvin, linebacker, New England.

Defensive rookie of the year: Calvin Pace, defensive end, Arizona.

Offensive rookie of the year: (tie) Onterrio Smith, running back, Minnesota; Teyo Johnson, tight end, Oakland.

Coach of the year: John Fox, Carolina.

He's going out on a limb with the Carolina picks in the playoffs, but that just tells me he's not simply towing the party line.

You can't have it both ways--you say King is a reporter who does his homework and gives the Cards props because he's come out to see them play; but then he's high for giving you opinions that don't match your own when it comes to other teams and players?

And I'm not picking on anyone in particular when I say "you." I just mean folks on the board in general.

I actually like Carolina but Delhomme not Peete is going to have to be the starter.

They have a VERY good defense, Stephen Davis, DeShaun Foster is supposedly going to play, it all will come down to QB play. I assume Fox picked Peete thinking less TO's but in preseason Delhomme was the only Panther QB to lead a TD drive.

I haven't looked at the schedule but they have the talent to win 10 games if the offense doesn't turn it over a lot.

Agreed. Hes high because he picks jake and carolina but hes on the ball when he picks pace? Make up your mind. King has been one of the only guys in arizona so i dont know why you guys knock him.

I guess the Colvin comment was because we wanted him and didn't get him.

Regarding Plummer, King has waffled so much on Jake it gets funny. Right now he's on the Jake will do well camp. He does do his research the reason I posted this was there were a lot of "links" to Cards fans from Jake and Colvin to his comments about Pace and boldin.

Just a curious look at our schedule based on King's predictions..The Cards would play 11 teams that are .500 or worse...If that holds true I would hope that we could win atleast 8 of them...5 of them are home games with 6 of them being on the road which is where I assume King is getting his 5 wins...We can bitch all we want about the Nat'l Media dogging the Cards(Myself included) but until they prove they have turned the corner it's a safe pick. Just look at last year...right when people started noticing the Cards at 4-2 the wheels fell off..Same with this preseason..noone wants to jump on the Cards bandwagon for fear of getting burned again..If they can win a descisive game in Detroit on the road...people might start to take notice...it will take wins over Seattle and Green Bay before anyone starts giving the Cards any props...all bets are off if they lose in Detroit...

I think the main thing about Jake is that people see what he can do once in a while. Everyone talks about the great comebacks and the way he plays in the 4th quarter and think "he shows moments of brilliance, he just has to do it for 4 quarters and he will be great." The only problem is he doesn't have the mentality to do that and I don't think he ever will. If we started every game in the 4th quarter I would love to have him, but then again if the league played a 12 game season I would bet on the Saints and Dolphins going to the Superbowl every year. I do think Jake has more surrounding talent then he ever had at one time here. I don't think that will translate into the great year everyone is predicting, that gunslinger mentality is too ingrained in him for him to play efficiently. While he could be more succesful in Denver I doubt his stats will be significantly better than they were with us unless he throws a lot of safe passes to Sharpe and Portis, which I doubt he will because he always looks for the big play every down.

King did his "tour" of the NFL this year. On Jake he said "his arm looked stronger than I thought it was in Arizona, he looks comfortable checking down in practice."

Of course you can find King comments before the '99 season about Jake being bigger, arm stronger, and primed for a great year. This is not the first time King has picked Jake for the MVP at this stage of the season. Or you can go to 2001 when King suggested that the Cards fired Trestman because we'd already fired Tobin and couldn't Mac or the real problem, the starting QB.

King likes Jake, always has, he called jake the steal of the draft in 1997.

ESPN's guys picked stuff too. At least 4-5 of them picked Suggs ROY. Ray Lewis is a popular MVP choice, Jaworski picked Hasselbeck with Seattle.

Neither Tom Jackson nor Mark Schlereth picked Denver in the playoffs which is interesting give they played for them.

Schlereth picked Dwight Freeney DPOY.

List is too long to post here it's on ESPN.com

I love Carolina. If they get decent QB play, they could win the Superbowl. John Fox is the NFL's brightest young coach, IMO, and the defense is THE best in football.

Peter King is still an ass.

I think that John Fox should have been the coach of the year last year. The fact that they played so well after Julius Peppers was suspended is a testatment to the fact that Fox doesn't let his players quit on him. I think that the Panthers will finish second or third in the NFC West, and will be one of the best teams in football if they could get a legitimate #1 WR and a QB who is more than a game-manager.

I would put another caveat on thier playoff chances, though: Stephen Davis needs to stay healthy. I love the way that Panthers ball, because it's Old Skool O (hate the West Coast scheme, hate the way the Rams, Pats, Steelers, Eagles, etc., play, even the Falcons are too high-flying for me) and breakneck D. The fact that they had the #2 D in the league with the worst corners in football speaks volumes about what they had up front. If Davis goes down, their season might be over. I liked DeShaun Foster before he went down, but I think he needs a year of spot work and a training camp to get his legs back under him and to build some confidence. Otherwise, it's Rod "He Hate Me" Smart and Nick "Comings and" Goings running out of the backfield. Scary.

Jake plummber for MVP? MVP??.

my eyes almost fell right out of their sockets when I saw this.

It would be an understatment to say that he is taking a flyer.

Hes probably just trying a response out of the fans.

as far as supporting the idea that Pace will be defensive rookie of the the year while phoo phooing jake being mvp, there is more evidence to support pace garnering that award than Jake!

I think Pace will be the MVP and Jake will be the D-MVP.

Jake will end up with more tackles than pace (after he throws stupid int's and throws behind-the-back-passes).

King is just another hack giving his opinion. At least he recognizes Boldin and Pace. King should talk to Clayton. I think Clayton did his homework, unlike King.
