done...but I dont think it will work
You might be right. I am the person that created the website. I have been a Broncos fan since the mid 80's, so you know who I will be pulling for the next time the Cards and Broncs play.

Like most Americans, I not only learned of Pat Tillman's death, but also some of what he did before he died in combat. The fact that he turned down a $9 million contract to stay with the Cardinals where he would make less than half of that. How he walked away from his multi-million dollar contract to enlist in the Army.

If Jake, a former friend and team mate, wants to honor him by wearing the number 40 on his helmet, the league should let him. They already set the precedent for the sticker during week 2 when every player in the NFL wore it. The longer the NFL fights this, the worse they look.

If only a few hundred people (over 100 have in a few hours) sign this petition, it won't mean much, but if that number starts to grow much larger, then the NFL will start to pay more and more attention.

Anyway, I read an article this morning about a groundwell of support forming for Jake Plummer. Since I am on vacation this week, I started this by registering a new domain and setting up a web hosting account today and then posting on the denverbroncos.com forum. From there, it has started to spread. I would appreciate all of you spreading the word to others, since that is the only way people will find out about the site.

Thanks for the support.

Billy

Jake won't be able to wear it for long if the rule isn't changed. The fines double every week.

The good news about this, even if the rule isn't changed, is that attention is being brought to the Tillman Foundation.

I might also suggest that the "call to action" for the petition be changed to be more encompasing, yet also more restrictive (it'll make sense in a second).

Right now, by asking the NFL to allow Jake to honor his friend, it sets a precedent for lots of other players to honor other very worthy causes and people. If you change the call to be something more like "allow former team mates of Pat Tillman to honor his sacrifice" that allows Jake to honor his freind, but also puts parameters on the rule--basically it sets a a precident for former team mates of an NFL player fallen in the line of duty to honor them.

As currently stated, anyone could honor anyone.

Yeah I agree with the NFL on this one so I will abstain. Is that the right word for it? lol But good luck! Joe Bless Tillman!
