The Suns and Jazz played in the finale of the Reebok Rocky Mountain ***** and wasted no time getting on the board. Each team got off and running, pushing the ball up court and getting open looks. Casey Jacobsen led the Suns attack with ten points, slashing to the hoop and hitting open jumpers. But the Jazz balanced attack helped the Jazz take the first quarter lead. Playing the whole quarter, Curtis Borchardt hit all three of his shots for six points and blocked one shot. The Jazz turned their shooting woes around from the previous night, shooting 78 percent in the quarter.

The Jazz long didn’t last long. The Suns started the second quarter on a 9-0 run. Derrick Dial led the charge, hitting a three and then going inside for two more. After a quiet first quarter, Leandro Barbosa got his game going offensively, scoring ten of his eleven first quarter points in the quarter and helping his team to a nine point lead. Utah’s Keith Waleskowski continued to play hard off the bench, chipping in four points and grabbing three boards.

Kirk Snyder came alive for the Jazz in the third quarter. The Jazz guard scored eight points and Raul Lopez added another five points, but the Jazz, despite hitting 50 percent from the field, couldn’t gain any ground on the Phoenix lead, which was pushed to 13. Barbosa’s strong play continued in the third, netting more points and dishing out three more assists; bring his game total to six.

The Suns continued to push their lead in the quarter. Behind a 14-2 run anchored by Leandro Barbosa and Arthur Johnson, the Suns’ lead increased to 21. Brett Blizzard scored five points for the Suns in the quarter, while Utah’s Kirk Snyder netted six, including a monster dunk in traffic. All-***** Leandro Barbosa led all scorers with 22 points, while Utah’s own All-***** player, Curtis Borchardt scored 12 points, nine boards, and five blocked shots. Rookie Kirk Snyder led all Jazz players with 20 points.

Lampe's stats suggest he was a bit passive, but nice games by Leandro, Casey, and Johnson (6 of 10 and 6 rebounds).

It is hard to tell, but Johnson seems like a guy who might get a training camp invite.

I believe that Barbosa made the all-RMR team. :)

Kaponovich was the league's MVP.

Yep - http://www.nba.com/jazz/*****/04_allrevueteam.html

Barbosa was 2nd in points per game and 5th in assists per game in the league.

History of Clippers Draft Picks

One of the odd things about the Clippers is that they have had an amzing number of quality players pass throught their franchise, but rarely for long.

For example, in 1995 they drafted McDyess but immediately traded for Rodney Rogers and Brent Barry. Both of these guys would eventually leave as free agents.

1996 they drafted Lorenzen Wright but in 2000 traded him for draft picks before he could leave as a free agent.

1997 they drafted Marice Taylor who left as a free agent in 2000.

1998 the drafted Olowokandi who left as a free agent in 2003. They also drafted Brian Skinner. Skinner was later traded in the deal that sent Chandler to Chicago for Brand.

1999 they drafted Lamar Odom who left as a free agent in 2003.

2000 they drafted Darius Miles who they laterd traded for Andre Miller in 2002. Miller left as a free agent in 2003. They also drafted Q Richardson who is trying to leave in 2004.

2001 they drafted Chander who they traded for Brand.

2002 they drafted Wilcox and Ely. They traded Ely for a second round pick.

Some of their deals were good ones like getting Brand. But overall, it is hard to name another team that has lost as many players to free agency or traded for draft picks rather than lose them.

Every other team in the NBA and I not have even bothered giving Q an offer once it was clear that Kobe was not going to become a Clipper. But with the Clippers, you never really know. This is a team that has flushed away enough talent to compete for the title. Truly amazing.
